You have just been elected President on the planet Zorga. Do what's necessary, to keep ruling the planet! How many years can you keep your seat in the Purple House on planet Zorga?

Programs:

 • Pixlr.com

Ld39PoZ01.JPG

Tips on how to start a better reign:

 • As soon as you get a secretary of treasury, invest money in the regions, so you can collect taxes. This is done by clicking the button under region income with the cost text; 15, 100, 500... (Testing showed it was not clear this was a button. Thanks Max and Cecilie)
 • If a regions support is low, try lower the tax cut a lot. With time people will like you better.
 • The 4 advisors are earning special points. Use them to either upgrade their speciel skill, or to collect fundraisers. Fundraisers costs 5 special points, and will give cold cash in return. Remember advisors will only earn special points when certain criterias are met.
 • Keep an empty inbox. Your VP only earns points when you have no mails. Furthermore, people don´t like to wait to long for an answer.
 • Use the break right after an election to adjust taxes and upgrade advisors and regions.
 • You can click the text boxes under advisors to clear them, to better notice new messages.
 • Music! You can click the note button in the upper left corner to hear the Zorgan National Hymn!

Have fun! How many years can you maintain the seat in the purple house of Zorga? Post your record in the comments! Thanks!

Hotfix: Through some testing I found a bug that would wrongfully vote against you. This is now fixed in the Hotfix update. I fixed some typos and added a helping arrow to show where to upgrade regions (income). * Fixed voting. Regions will now vote according to there own support status. * Fixed typos showing VP, SP, TP and WP text in Fundraisers. * Fixed guideline arrow to show how to upgrade regions, and thereby earn taxes. * Fixed mails that would give wrong result.

I like the idea and the mechanics are refreshing and interesting. Unfortuneatly I could not figure out how to actually gain income. So I got into terrible debt. Other than that I made it 5 years, so that's something.

Whoop, left a comment already but the site ate it. Oh well, I'll try this again.
I loved this game! I like clicker games in general, and this one is a nice hectic experience. I only got to year ten before the emails and populace decided that maybe, just maybe, I wasn't all that great. Overall, I loved this! I really like the humor and character that this game has. Excited to see what you do for the next LD.

@AndideBob. Yes, I know it's not easy to see how to gain money. But under each region under *"region income"* is a button with a price, that will upgrade the regions income. You can then collect taxes of that region. I found out to late, that the button is not that visible. But, thanks for trying out the game and leaving a comment!

@futil. Thanks man, that means a lot! Glad you liked the idea! Hope you beat your record!

edit(I have uploaded a Hotfix version where I have added a hint to upgrade, and removed some bugs)

Nice game. I like the thinking of the strategies and decision making for remain president of Zorga. There is really something valuable there. Develop the concept some more, and you have a very good game. For now, good job on the entry.

Cool idea and nice execution. In the beginning when advisors are presented I clicked one of their checkboxes and the text disappeared. Overall solid experience.

Year 6! . The game is a nice idea but it gets a little repetitive after 3 years, the daily ordering system is well done. At some point I did not understand why most regions lowered their support, it would be a plot, ahahahha. Anyway nice game

@simonhutchinson I'm sorry, i'ts a windows only build. I don't have experience in multi device applications. Maybe in the future. Thanks for the interest though!

Seems really interesting, but it's just too hectic for me to play properly. I get overwhelmed real quick. Nice funny graphics!

I really like the idea. Unfortunately I think it's a bit confusing and I wasn't really sure if I was playing it correctly.

The graphics aren't bad, but the UI is far too small. I understand that it might not've been easy to scale up, but I had to go really close to the screen to read anything. It also seems very 'Windowsy', if that's a word. Standard textboxes, font and so on. I didn't quite like that.

The gameplay is fun, I think. As I said, I'm not sure if I'm playing correctly. It's also a bit hectic, but some people might like that. Don't have much else to say.

The music is pretty good. The main melody sound gets a bit annoying after a while, but the composition isn't bad.

Overall I did enjoy your game. Good work.

This was an interesting mixture between a clicker game and some sort of a light economical strategy game, the combination worked nicely. I think the main game logic was clear but the UI could have been done a little bit more clearly, I feel there was too much going on on the screen. It was a fun game to try to balance money and popularity and there were nice small details with taxes(I assume) and developing regions.

I played this after only skimming the instructions, nice job making the game self-explanatory! I like that it's real-time, I expected it to be turn based going in. I do wish it was a little slower paced though, I was overwhelmed by everything that was happening even with my relatives, ahem, I mean staff, helping me... Grandpa catching some Z's is excellent by the way :-)

FYI, this runs great on Linux with Wine. I noticed a glitch where if you click inside your staffs' text boxes, the text inside clears and doesn't reappear.

I really enjoyed my time with "President of Zorga". It's has a good sense of humor and the little stories inside each character/email/etc is really fun. The pacing was a little fast for me personally but that may just be because I take my time when making choices like that. Loved the character design and would like to see some more animations/graphical improvements. Great job!

Ruled for 8 years on my first try. GJ on fun gameplay, with most welcome light atmosphere.
UI showing up one element at a time in tutorial is a nice touch, would like to see more of that in LD games with complex UI.

Out of all the decisions and systems to consider, the one I enjoyed most was choosing between upgrading special skills vs spending it on events. It reminded me of the Heroes of Might and Magic decision to choose between exp and money from chests which was always a hard/interesting decision. I saw there were a good amount of strategies that can be attempted in playthroughs, so there was a decent amount of replayabily for me as I tried different paths. I wish I had more time to read all the flavor text flying around but there was just no time as it's a frenetic game. Excellent work for a compo game, there are so many systems implemented in such a short time.

The music button does not always work it seems.

The user interface does not scale with the window and the text is very small, almost illegible, hurts my neck after a while from leaning in so much.

The UI is really confusing, I don't know what half the buttons do. I don't understand the gameplay, it seems a little complicated.

I like the music, very catchy.

The graphics are funny, I like your little hand-drawn characters, especially the grumpy grandpa :-)
