Guy is late for school by phi

Help him get to school before 8 am!

The original concept we had thought of had a more clear connection to the theme than what we ended up doing. We decided it's better to create a fun game than to adhere to the theme by all means.

Thank you for playing! :)

Wow! What a creative entry. I love how it seems to be a simple walking game, then once you end up stepping on a potion you get the hook. Tons of fun, great work.

Awesome entry! Really well made. I was 5 seconds late for school on my first run :) Great idea that smaller steps are faster, but longer steps are more precise, and easy to place. And the growing up, to move faster works great! It's a little disconnected from the theme, but the game is really fun! Good job!

Nice game! It was fun to play. I love the stomping effect that happens when you reach a certain size.
I like how the mood changes when you are late, and how it feels like I caused the title to be true by being too slow. It makes me wonder if you can actually get there in time...

First of all, I love this game!!! This mechanic is so innovative! I’m so impressed!

Concerning the graphics you did a great job, the graphics is so simple but at the same time so beautiful. It fits so well with this kind of gameplay.

Concerning the audio, the music loop is great. But the thing i liked the most were the big stomp sound effects. It was so satisfying.

Overall I like this game so much. I had an amazing time playing it. This kind of game mechanic is so innovative I haven't seen It around in any other games! I can’t believe this haven’t got more votes than this! This deserves better! Thank you so much for this experience and good luck in the future! Have an awesome day, and I hope to see you in the next jam!

(Another thing, I got to school exactly when it began.)

@dudum-lare Thank you so much for your kind feedback! :)

However, I'm afraid you may have been between 0 and 0.5 seconds too late for school... The number of seconds is rounded, but it should appear as green text if you've made it in time ;) But I'll let it slide, congrats :P

Great entry, simple yet really fun. Just the way the jam game should be in my opinion! It also has very intuitive controls which is always nice. I've managed to get to school 20 seconds early.

### What you did well:

This was an interesting game and it had a concept that I'd never seen before, I liked the idea that consuming multiple potions would make you grow even more and I loved the thud sound as well as screen shake that you got when you were massive. The soundtrack was very nice and the sound effects were funny.

###How to improve:

Obviously, there's some room for improvement with the graphics of the person but aside from that, I'd recommend making the foot move faster as to make the game faster paced and harder to give the "late for school" feel to it.

But overall, it was a great and hilarious game, well done.

The first genuinely funny game I've played so far. Looks inspired by Carefulzilla from LD38. I liked it a lot.

Not much to criticize. The graphics were a bit simplistic for a Jam game, but the character motion was very charming. Controls were nice and intuitive and allowed for fast and slow motion depending on your surroundings. I would have appreciated a slightly stronger camera shift to see upcoming obstacles sooner. That would have allowed to walk with fast strides more without fear that a house might appear out of nowhere.

The music is very nice, but the sound effects could have been chosen a bit more carefully to support the humor better.

All in all a very funny and fun entry.

This is one of the rare games that are both extremely simple and fun. I think the design and gameplay are on point :ok_hand:. The only thing that could be improved is audio and art. I can see this being a blockbuster in the app store if you continue working on it.

So much fun from such a simple concept. Torn about the theme connection (as you mentioned too) as more potions seem to only bring positives but as a game on it's own it's really solid. Good job!

Wooooooooo 2 secs early! Very nice gameplay made out of just 1 button too, it's pretty hard to make an interesting 1 button game without resorting to some uninteresting mechanics. The balance of this game is shockingly on point (unless my 2s finish was a fluke) so well done on your testing part. I really liked how nervous I felt once I was gigantic because it was easy to misstep into houses and I had to take some smart gambles. Very creative game, I loved it.

Simple, well made game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 40 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8s2AmCPVSXQ

lol this is great. I normally add constructive feedback but like, "it gets really fast and hard and difficult to control at some point" is the entire core mechanic, so I have nothing to add. It's funny, and fun. Nice job.
