Neat game! Would be interesting to see that same mechanic in a 3D platform game! Here's mine if your interested! :D https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/$60178

Really cool game you've got going here! There is a pretty sharp spike in difficulty after the first sun umbrella, though! It took me about 5 attempts before I was able to get the sunscreen!

Well done on this one! :)

Great connection with the theme and very funny overall. Thanks for this :)

Really interesting! Only critique I had is that I thought that it was a tad unclear to do where you had to jump onto the low parasol at first. Maybe there could have been some sort of incentive for that? But the music and graphics were great and the simplistic gameplay was fun!

Nice game, a bit hard at the start but it's very nice. A bit too short though. Had fun with the "random" moving shadow :)

Very good game. I enjoyed this on a lot.
Everything felt good in the game.
Some finishing touches will make this an awesome mobile game.

Really fun game! The character and the mood are perfect, especially with this incoming winter :D
I agree with the critic of Cibbler though, it is sometimes a bit unclear what you have to do or where you have to go. But the mecanics are good and the overall is pretty cool :)

Nice Idea. It fun, but difficult.

The concept is fun and I quite like the graphics. In the browser it was really laggy though and jump was a little unresponsive sometimes even after downloading. I also question the choice of having the main character be the same colour as the background. He does show up when he gets red but I think there could have been something more to make him stand up more constantly.

This game has a good flow. From easy to hard. Those are Some nice ideas with the shadow mechanics. And i liked the bouncy sound when you jump over the sunumbrella. The soundtrack was a bit repetetive but thats just polish stuff. Good work guys!

That sizzling sound effect really fit :D The game mechanic is like a comedy platformer version of that one level in Mass Effect (2 or 3, can't remember which). Could work well as a small section in a scifi platformer with the sun burning your shields/health like in that Mass Effect scene. Fun gameplay, good graphics and sounds, funny idea.

Great job! One of the best theme realisation!
The case when realy more is worst!
Just one moment witch is upsetting that there is no checkpoints..(

And Art is good! Looks polished and have some style!
You can already published it, streamer will become crazy! May be just add some stuff like sharks, cocktails and chicks of course ;)

And this AAAA woter! So lovely!
So funy jumping over the umbrellas) You should add more funny items instead of puzzle mechanics!
And the picture is for win screen,.. or loose))

A neat concept, explored in a fun way. Visually, pretty great too. I would have liked checkpoints because it was frustrating going all the way back to the start from near the end. I also think there's good potential for further exploration of your mechanics but that's more for the future.

What was causing the moving shadows?

Music suits the art so well! Good choice there
The game itself isn't too difficult but it does require memory, like Crash Bandicoot to some degree. You go through a level not knowing what you're going to run into then maybe have to restart and you get better each time
Good concept and nice little game!

Well working mechanics! I think the performance in the browser was a bit low though. it felt like 15 FPS (i have a 980GTX) but everything else was fine :) maybe some features that would be nice:
* Highscore
* Sprint/Dash with Energybar that must be used at the right places to achieve the goal
* Lives (so that you dont die for failing once)
Nice job :)
Vottivott
06. Dec 2017 · 16:38 UTC
Thanks for the suggestions @wujood, I think the sprint/dash idea could fit really well! Sorry to hear about the low framerate in the browser, I guess we could improve that by reducing the polycount in some of our models.

Playing a game about getting sunburn in such a cold weather feels so weird :D

Anyway, Graphics, audio, music are great.

Idea was simple enough to execute it properly and polish it in time.

The level design feels great - I was always lead to something unknown the way I was able to understand it fast enough without losing and having to start over again.

The only problem for me was the same as @wujood said - the browser performance was a bit low and I don't think that's caused by our GPUs (I have GeForce GT 740M and I have about the same FPS as he has) - probably problem of browser resources?

Thank you for making this game though :)

Very good game, the concept is really funny.
I thinks it's a bit frustating than you have to restart a te the beginning al the time. May be some checkpoint could be good withlives for those.

Good job !

Pretty fun platformer, great solid idea. The sound design and art assets are outstanding too. My only suggestion would be to soften the quick camera movement when changing directions. It wasn't much of a problem though. Great entry!

Cool concept. Had a bit of trouble with the first bottle of sunscreen (since I kept jumping towards it from the first bench) and there are a few spots where it's very difficult to get shade due to not knowing the position of the moving shadows.

Besides that I really like the idea and I had fun for a while. Good job.

Graphics and music are pretty good, but the game needs more gameplay mechanics and definitely quicker regeneration time.

That was a great game! Easy to understand the concept and well executed. I agree a checkpoint system would have been nice, but I made it to the end after dying twice, so it's totally doable. I enjoyed the character design, reminds me of playing a leisure suit Larry game.

Wow, this was made on one weekend?! Damn!
The 3D graphics are great (especially the character animation). The sound works, but the music could be less repetitive and I somehow wanted to hear a win sound when I won. I really like the concept of the game! :)

Lots of fun though it's like a platformer. I think I need gameover several times to learn how to proceed to the end.I played for quite a while and it's really good. One problem: the white chairs and tables sometimes it looks flat but actually there's a difference in height so I failed several times here.

I think the game is hard but I guess it was intentional. I have not much to say on how to improve the game, just polishing (level design, music) may be
gelisam
24. Dec 2017 · 23:21 UTC
Fun, but the level design isn't guiding the player enough. The first few steps teach us to boldly run into the unknown, trusting that a parasol will be waiting for us if only we can get there fast enough, but then the player is punished for relying on this new knowledge by a step in which we have to wait patiently for a shadow to appear instead of running towards it. And once the player learns to wait, sometimes they have to wait for a very long time before realizing that this time, they were supposed to run!

I recommend adding a visible water bottle near the beginning of the steps in which the player should run, to indicate that they are supposed to go and grab it right away. Also, the first moving shadow should be introduced in a safe environment, in which the distance is short enough that the player could reach the shadow by running even if their timing is completely off.

Finally, the music: I liked it, at first, but I died many times and eventually it started to get a bit repetitive. I also really liked the ending, very funny!
