Spaceless by yilian

[raw]
made by yilian for LD 42 (COMPO)

This is my entry for Ludum Dare 42, with the theme of "Running out of space".

The controls are A and D to move left and right, Space to Jump holding S to increase the speed of the falling blocks temporarily, in exchange for bonus points.

The game is over once you get crushed by a block or fall too far behind.

Have fun!

Fun Game Though Very Luck Based

It could be usefull to have mabe a way to move the falling pieces, or a bonus bomb to avoid getting stuck in some case where it is just not possible to continue because we were not lucky enough.
Other than that it is quite fun to play.

I thought that this was a really creative game!!

Nice game! I found that the movement was a bit too floaty and that I never was in full control of it. Really fun though!

This was great! I would have liked to see my high score. I think it was pretty close to 1000...

Very fun game but the fact that sometimes luck can make you automatically lose sucks
(and the movement was floaty)

Wish I could move pieces. Great idea. nice art. but mechanic is disappointing

Interesting game. Audio and graphics are nice. I think it would match the Ludum Dare 41 theme more though. (Combine 2 Incompatible Genres) Overall fun to play! :D

I like this concept and very fun. but i can't fine RESTART button after the game over. that is the only one problem i think.

Slow, meditative, relaxing game with well-done music and pretty graphics. I like it!
There is not enough acceleration over time.

"That feeling when you get stuck with the worst tetris player ever" :D
The game works well and starts fun but gets frustrating once you realize it's pure luck. Several time I saw blocks stacking in only 1 corner with no way to jump from the bottom to the top and losing without any way of getting out of there.
If you don't want to give control of the tetris blocks to the player, maybe you can force the pieces to spawn where the height is the lowest (at least 1 every 2 tiles maybe ?) that should rebalance the luck.
Still had fun trying to make my own luck there heh :p Nice job

I love the idea for this - as some other have said though there are times when you loose through no fault of your own, maybe if you increased the probability of dropping blocks over lower areas this could help balance and keep the focus on player skill. Good effort.

Got into a position where I couldn't jump up anymore due to the configuration of the blocks, felt bad because there wasn't anything I did to drop the blocks.

This is a cool take on Tetris. I dig the concept, and the audio and art is nice. The camera following the block level instead of the player got kind of annoying, because occasionally I would be stuck beneath the camera window and would have to blindly jump up until I made it back into view. I'm glad the option to speed the blocks up was there, but I did it more because I didn't want to wait the whole time for them to come down than for the bonus points. Worthy inclusion!

Very addictive and fun game. Very impressive considering you only spent the first day on this. I would've loved to see a combo between actually moving them as well, like in normal tetris :D. Music also works great together with the graphics and it's just very polished overall.

It looks like the difficulty is not increasing. Basically is just how long until you get trapped (by avoidable mistakes, even if sometimes it requires tricky jumps). The music loop is too short.

Cool game! When I was playing I wishing for a few things, like I kinda wish I was able to control the tetris pieces too, and I wish the speed increased as I progressed. Maybe I was wrong, but I felt the speed was the same for awhile. Good job!

Thanks for the feedback everyone! A lot of you requested moving the tiles (which I can understand), but I had a hard time figuring out what would fit in the game with that. Maybe jumping into the tiles ..? Anyway, thanks for playing and enjoying!
