This is a stunning looking and very polished game! I love the cute animations, the music and sounds, and the controls feel good. But apparently I do not have what it takes to get to the end...

The only minor complaint I have is that restarting the game takes a bit long, for it to be even more addictive

This game is a awesome addictive game where failing is not frustrating. The control as so good that when I die, I know it's my fault and I'm pushed to try again and try to do better.

The art style and sound design are also fitting and very good.

(You can see me playing this game for the first time on the vod https://youtu.be/_Upt3PIzndo?t=55m46s )

This game really got some addictive gameplay! I love the art style and the soundtrack you were able to accomplish in just 3 days! This certainly one of the most polished games in this Ludum Dare.

I think with some sort of a reward system and maybe a few more variations this could already be great as a mobile game!

Brilliant game!
Loved the gameplay and sweet graphics and sound.
Beat it today, also enjoyed just jumping up on the platforms (could be an interesting twist on the objectives).

Great little game! Very clever idea using the globe as an endless runner level, as the globe gets smaller it naturally ramps up the pace of the game... beautiful art too! Would like to have seen some randomness in the globes breaking apart though. Overall great game.

Amazingly addictive! it pushes to go further and further, graphic, animation, and audio are going really well together. The game is polished really well. Great job.

@brothers-arcade - there is actually a level of randomness in chunk size and speed, but if you haven't noticed it - maybe we should have made it more pronounced :)

I think the game & concept is definitely worth further development. Maybe expand on the idea a bit and turn it into a full-on mobile game release?

@drestuff - we are thinking about it. hopefully we will continue post-ld to work on it.

This was AWESOME! I played it a bunch but couldn't get past the 3rd shell. The hitbox for the undersides of chunks seemed a bit wonky in cases where it looked like I could run under one, and then I'd clip myself against the invisible bit. I'm going to keep playing it for a while because its addictive though. Great game!

Little and simple game, but it's very addictive. I think if you create android/iOS port it could be popular game on stores. Just simple tap but fun game :)

Simple idea, yet so addictive. I only got to 2nd stage, but I'll download the android version and send you a winscreen-shot ; ).

That is a lot of fun! I made it to the blue layer at one point. It's a shame you had to opt out of the audio category because the music is really good. The art and animation are really great as well, very colourful and bouncy.

@randomhuman Thank you!
Yes, sadly we didn't have time to get sound FX produced for the game. Hopefully this is something we'll change post-ld.

Goddammit! I fucking died at the last stage with about two pieces of shit still attached.

Afterthought: At the last stage I was confused because the surface under the last layer is spiky. I thought you could not walk on it and tried to jump from floating platform to floating platform.

@Neato - good catch. It's something we should probably change post-ld.

The animations are really juicy. I feel like the core game play loop could be more interesting with some introduced elements. Perhaps powerups?

Amazing concept art. I had a fun time with the game. Really cool concept all around, from the mechanics of the player to the chips of the crust crumbling off. Would have enjoyed some sort of sort to show how awesome I am at the game though. Good work, keep it up!

Awesome game :D

I like that you added some making-of stuff as well.

Some suggestions:
- make the respawn faster
- add some speed options (like ultra fast or super slow)

Cheers,

Planet Runner! Here’s the quick rundown of my thoughts:

PROS
- Really well-implemented one-button game
- Just the right amount of challenging to keep yourself going
- Art assets are really really good

CONS
- not much, really (some quality of life stuff would be nice; timer, death count maybe?)

This is really good! It feels so simple, but it's a great take on the auto-runner. It took me a while to internalise that landing on lower layers wouldn't kill me, despite you explicitly stating so right below the Unity player; i think it's because of the contrast in colours, perhaps if the second layer had a more similar tone to the first it wouldn't feel so jarring, and then by the third layer you could play more with the colours because we'd already have learned that it's safe. Once i figured that out, though, i had a lot of fun. Great work!

The answer is no. No I don't have what it takes to get to the core :P But I really enjoyed it nonetheless! It looks simple, but it's not, it's suuuuper challenging! I'm glad you already made an android version, I would suggest that this needs to become a mobile game. It will spread so much hate and frustration, just like a good mobile game should do! :D I really liked the graphics, though the handpainted style of the planet kinda clashed with the vector style of the player. The music was also amazing, it kept me in the zone while I died again and again! Overall, this is a really great game, good job! :D
