At first I thought I outsmarted the game by building on the sides but that turned out to be a no go, and then I got wrecked due to my 'all my eggs in one basket' approach. So I spread out a bit and did much much better.
It wasn't immediately clear what each room type did, but my strategy was to just keep a variety and that seemed to keep me in business most of the time.
Do the meteors fall randomly? It felt like they were seeking out my structures at some points which was a little discouraging, but maybe it was just bad luck!
No bugs, smooth and intuitive, and a creative little game. Hi5!
I did find that the game felt a bit too easy though, since I felt I was playing the game for a while and didn't get hit once. I honestly just stopped playing around the 3000 point mark since I wasn't seeing the end of the game in sight.
I really do like the game loop though. Running around and trying to keep your buildings balanced while dodging meteors was really fun. I just feel the game would be better with a more possible end game condition.
Anyway, all in all I really like this game! Great work!
I quickly placed all the buildings to cover the screen then was a bit confused what to do. So, I started building off the screen (by quite a bit), thought the screen might scroll up or something but it didn't so I sat for a few minutes waiting for the meteors to destroy my building but it took quite a bit of time and my points are still going up quite a bit (game is running in background).
Overall great music and concept.
Its a great game idea though, good concept!
Anyway, the game looks really neat. The pixel art is very good, and the music and sound effects are great. The code mechanics is where the game unfortunately lacks a little bit. It doesn't seem like the buildings actually do anything? I'd expect the people rate to increase with residential buildings, and similar for money with commercial and materials with industrial. I believe this would be possible by simply going to your player.defineSprite() function and increase your ui.peopPS, ui.monPS and ui.matPS by a certain amount. Well, they're local variables so you'd have to make functions on your ui script, but you get the point :)
I realize I probably seem quite harsh. The game is actually really good, but with a little bit more work on the code it could have been amazing. Good luck next game jam! :)
Also maybe it's useful to add some explanation about the building cost and resources production.
Despite that it's a very funny game, the music is very good and I love the audio effects, expecially the run and the jump, that are very funny ahah
The graphics are nice too! Good job
