Coins and Bullets by Genpaku

[raw]
made by Genpaku for LD 40 (COMPO)

My first project in Unity

The more coins you get game gets harder(more bullets and they are faster).

Collect as much coins as you can, good luck ;)

Something like bug that I choose to leave in game:

You can go to the walls to get faster to the other side but that's very risky.

Hey! Well done. I found it a bit hard to see what direction my character where heading. Maybe a less symmetrical shape could help with that? Maybe a tail? I dont know :P. Enjoyed playing it!

well done simple idea, hard to tell your life and where you where going and the UI on the end screen broke but well done

Congrats for your job! There are some issues with the colliders, but the idea is cool ;)

Hi, nice first game. Tried it a bunch of times, but cannot seem to get more than 20 coins (I keep dying).
The fps mode is super difficult. Cool way to make a hard mode. I personally would love to get more feedback from everything. When the canon balls hits the player, the player should feel it. More base in the sound effect and a bit of screen shake would make this game super cool :D Nice work

Good first project. I liked the addition of different difficulties being tied to perspectives. As another has said, the game is lacking in game feel aspects (a bit of knockback when hit by a ball, a bit of screen shake, punchier sound effects).

Not bad for a first game! Liked that you added the "hard-mode", adds some replayability on top of me trying to beat my highscore. Good job.

I liked this, I actually thought the third person mode was harder. The controls were just tricky enough to make it challenging but not frustrating. In first person view, maybe some kid of radar to show where the coins are spawning? I also think both modes could use a life meter so I can know when I'm approaching death.

Nice work on the main character design, and things certainly escalate quickly!

Tank controls though... *shakes fist*

FYI, small bug with your gameover screen in non fullscreen webplayer - your gameover text and restart text are bigger than the game window is.

Nice job :) One thing I'll say is (at least for me) using a/d to turn the character in top-down games always feels a bit awkward. It feels a bit more natural if the mouse determines which way the character is facing instead. The arrow key way is much better for the first person mode though. It did turn a little fast but other than that, seems good man! Keep up the work!

Brilliant game. REally captured the theme. The gameplay was really nice and fun.

Well done game! Although, try to be careful with the UI, next time, it should be the same in wether it's full screen or not, just a little tip! Other than that, keep up the good work!

I enjoy the controls. Hard mode is really hard.

Very simple game (I like simple). The player was fun to control--handled nicely. Cute little wobbly arm animation.

For your first unity game it's great! Nice simple mechanics - get coins and dodge bullets - I like it, no explaining needed.

The little flipper-like walking animation really reminds me of Pingu, so nice blast of nostalgia there!

An issue with the web build seems to be that the UI is cut off a lot, might just need a setting tweaked to scale to screen size.

Nice job though, great entry!

Good game, rather like trying to cross the road in Hanoi. Preferred first person mode, couldn't get on with the controls in third person - would rather the player just went in the direction you press as it's not always clear which was he's facing.

Nice first Unity game! The concept simple but that makes it easy for the player to grasp which I think is perfect for a LD entry. My only real issues with the game were that I couldn't tell how close I was to dying and it was a bit difficult to tell which way I was facing. Also, I noticed that the game over screen was a bit out of whack. If I had to guess, I'm assuming that's because you didn't set your Unity UI canvas scale factor correctly. Overall, good job!

My best is 13 coins, nice game! I love how you sold the bug with walls as a feature :) also the protagonist is a great flappy little thing!

Interesting game, even though it's very simple. Hard to tell whether the bullets are getting faster, but it certainly was getting harder as the game progressed. Good luck expanding on this game further!
