A very simple game. I really like the idea of having a rear shield that can block everything, and a front shield you can activate.
But the game is not very balanced so far. I never managed to shoot another ship because the ships are faster than the shots.
Also the health meter depletes pretty slowly.
My main strategy in the second attempt, was just to stand still and shoot regularly. In this way I could even get some of the spaceships! :)
My score at the end 630 points.
Like the others have said there are quite a few balancing issues. The ship's gun is not really usable, and turning is very slow. This could be a very simple and fun game with some re-balancing and polish. Good job!
I like the way that turning the ship consumes power and the idea of the shield. I took some time to notice that the blue orb was actually the `orb` to power up, I keep trying yo shoot the stars on the background ( white blocks thats keeps coming and going ) but I guess thats just me.
Nice job!
The game concepts are solid. I agree with others that increasing the speed of your own projectiles, as well as the turning speed, would allow for greater control in the game. With a faster turning speed, the decision of whether to use the back-shield or the energy-siphoning front-shield would be more tactical.
>Turning, Aiming, Shoot!
>Shots incoming! We must block!
>Adrift, No Power...
It looks like background music a little bit contradicts the game mood, and faster shots would make game more interesting
This has the beginnings of a good game, but it needs some balancing. For instance, the player's ship rotates too slowly to react to incoming missiles, and the shots are very slow. That being said, I think you'll get there because all of the elements are there.
I also think that the music does not really fit, and more sound effects in general would be good.
Movement would have been nice, maybe more of a traditional shootemup.
