Cosmic Escape 1999 by Chocolat-Endive
The solar system you're visiting is starting to collapse. Everything is expanding, and you have to escape as fast as you can. Be quick, space is running out of space.
This game is a little 3D space simulator, where fleeing is the only option. Default controls are mapped on WASD, shift and space, and mouse for camera/direction.
It's our entry for LDJam 42. We hadn't made any new game creation attempt for a long time, and the Ludum Dare was a good occasion to try again, as well as discovering Godot Engine. We hope to add more levels to this in the future.

After the chaos the game was super feasable! Nice entry :D
Maybe your computer is a little slow and it does not have the time to load the assets before you hurt something ?
Try to go forward during the black screen, it may save you during the loading? I'm sorry.
When nothing helps, I'll have to slowdown the internal clock of the game.
The sounds were also quite interesting.
Like others said I wish the levels were not random. Some of them are just impossible to beat.
Glad to see another entry made with Godot :gorilla:
@superqgs @stateoff Big pixels are cool! We're pretty happy with the resolution too. :-) Thanks! (and Godot is super cool)
@drnoir the audio is not generative, I made a long (5 minutes I think) abstract piece for the level, and a another long one (8 minutes) for the menu. Thanks for streaming! (do you have a link for your twitch channel ?)
@holdmeimscared Thanks! I'm happy you've enjoyed the "claustrobic feel" of the game.
I think my computer isn't slow enough to play the game(GTX 1060 6GB + Ryzen 1600).
I loved the theme and sound effects, and mood! I think this is a good game enough to receive good ratings.
Also: 13 minutes of music for a 3 minute game?
For the music, it's because I improvised it, so I did'nt look at the duration. It's a little too long, I agree!
A lot of attention seems to have been put on the atmosphere with the graphics and audio, and it really sold the game for me.
Great entry, glad I got a chance to play it.
I see Debord, Emma Goldman, Tristan Tzara and Nietzsche (and 2001) on your desktop, we share some reading tastes.
Juste yes.
(and I think my compo is a sorte of 2d version of your game)
We'll investigate to make the game check that everything is loaded before starting the level timer. Sorry! I'll tell you when it's fixed.
Thanks for this amazing interactive audiovisual experience, my first 5 star this LD!
- Godot Engine :heavy_check_mark:
- Pixelated look :heavy_check_mark:
- Crazy audio :heavy_check_mark: (Pierre Henry much?)
- Rebindable controls :heavy_check_mark: (seriously?)
- SPACE :heavy_check_mark:
- Hyperspace effect :heavy_check_mark:
I'm in awe, that was a really great find, I can't wait to see what you'll do next time :)
BUT I watched a stream of @nufflee playing it and it looked really cool! So I rated it based on that and not my buggy experience on the untested mac version.
Well done!
I love it!
gameplay at around 17:30 - https://www.twitch.tv/videos/298139021## (I was playing it without recording, derp!)
Also, kudos for the 6-DOF controls (also done that in my LD42 game, and it took me some tries to get it right ;-))
The ending animation was also welcome ; after 2-3 tries, it felt rewarding!
