The Great and Magnificent Machine by psychopsam

You are the saviour of this land, if only you could keep this damn infernal machine running. Find resources, defend against attacks, fight for fuel and keep the land safe. {EDIT} I've added a Windows build that is playable but there are still some bugs. This is my submission - base bug squashed - you can now lose both bases and lose the game that way or get shot or die by losing power. Use ALT + F4 to quit.

Instructions - Press SPACE to start - Press ALT F4 to quit - Press left and right to move across the map - You can see the enemy in the scanner at the top as red blips - You can see pickups as white blips - You first need to get gun parts to build a gun - You can collect shield, gun, power, missile (bugged) and segments (bugged) (larger ship) to keep running - Run out of power (the gauge above your head) and you lose - Kill the big boss to win - Protect your bases from enemy attack - Avoid getting shot - and keep your shield up

I absolutely love the graphics. That said, I'm not sure you can actually lose, can you? I just scrolled right until I was near the boss and sat there doing nothing as the auto turret went to work destroying everything.

This was a fun submission which definitely played into the theme well. It would be off been nice to experience to a higher degree the feeling of running out of power, as it did somewhat feel like I was never truly in danger; however it did fit into the theme nicely and there were some really good qualities of this game you should be proud of. I really enjoyed the magnificently drawn models, I Actually would of loved it to follow more of a sketchbook theme and be more grayscale, but I don't think that detracted from it at all. The Audio was well themed and all felt in keeping.

Constructive points:

- Needed to feel more at risk, if that's power running out quicker, or enemy damage.
- Projectiles could of been sped up, they just felt a little slow and not as impactful.
- Some feel polish, like well timed camera shake would of added a lot.

Thanks for the feedback oxrock and Tim. It's all good crits thankyou. Yes having the bug where the last base never gets destroyed definitely means the player is at less risk of losing. I think I'm only allowed to fix that bug - or maybe I'm not??? Anyway - I ran out of time to truely balance it. But I really appreciate the feedback anyways :D

The graphics were very charming, although I couldn't figure out how to avoid getting hit. Everything simply followed me like some buggy homing missile.

Yeah I noticed the enemy bullets seemed to hang around in screen space. Another bug!!! Thanks for playing :D
