made by ohmmus for LD 42 (COMPO)

THEME: "Running Out of Space"

As a space pilot escaping pursuit, you head full speed into a chaotic debris field hoping to lose your tail. Good thing you've trained your entire life for this sort of thing!

Make split-second flight path changes by accessing your ACE-MODE skill, which allows you to slow down time around you while controlling your ship as normal.

CONTROLS: SPACEBAR - Press and hold to activate ACE-MODE. Time around you slows to a halt. Release to leave ACE-MODE. Arrow-UP - Pitch your ship up. Can only be used in ACE-MODE. Arrow-DOWN - Pitch your ship down. Can only be used in ACE-MODE.

RULES: - Avoid RED walls on top and bottom of screen. - Avoid YELLOW debris fields and pieces. - Use ACE-MODE to make split-second changes in your flight path. - This is an endless-runner; go for score!

I've not seen a game of this genre with the pause mechanic. Interesting. Good work!

I found it a little bit confusing at beginning, but it's a simple and functional idea. The art is simplicist and the sounds are funny. Maybe through some animations you could turn it more immersive and/or funny. Keep the good work!

An interesting core mechanic. What you did to show the controls is pretty smart, and I liked how the obstacles change their color if they are in the path of movement. Aesthetically took me back to my Windows 98 days. I liked the visual style and the music. I had problems playing it on Google Chrome, but Firefox saved the day.

You already played our game: The legend of the looter and the incredible backpack that never runs out of space, so we can't do anything but thank you.

Although the graphics in your game are very simple, the core gameplay is quite fun and fits the theme. The audio and the asteroid particles are also cool. And the interation in the home menu is very interesting and I do like it. Overall it's a fun and cool game for compo. Good job!

Very fun game! The concept reminded me of flappy bird and it's predecessors, but with a really fun ability. I thought this game was direct from an old arcade library, it seemed very polished, great work!

What an interesting idea for a mechanic. Core gameplay is nice, you definitely got the theme. Graphically I'm torn: I like the "retro" look, but I wonder if it would benefit from a different graphical style. Same with the audio. Controls were pretty good. I had a lot of fun playing this, and I hope you continue to work on it.

Hope you've had a great LD!

I really like the mechanic and controls, my high score is 116. I think it fits the theme very well too, my only suggestion would be to change the difficulty curve so it gets harder more gradually. But overall I really like it.
