Behold, fellow human. Welcome to the very real tale of Unitox and the destiny of the Seldoon civilization..

About

The Questiest Quest of the Intertwined Feast is a rhythm game that sets the destiny of an entire civilization between your feet:

  • Meet colorful, weird and angry characters during your journey,
  • Be the best on the dancefloor,
  • Make choices that will alter your gameplay and the life of billions of people,
  • Have fun laughing at our silly puns!

Since TQQOTIF (short for The Questiest Quest of the Intertwined Feast) is a rhythm game, playing with sound is really recommended !

Controls:

  • W,S,A,D or the arrow keys: move and dance
  • Spacebar/Mouse click: dialogs and buttons

Known Bugs/Issues

  • Arrows can be a little off with the music (you may have to hit ~0.1 second sooner or later), depending of your browser and computer! Didn't have time to make a calibration phase!

Team

  • Programming: Stending (https://twitter.com/MatthieuWololo)
  • Music & SFX: uj (https://twitter.com/uinelj)
  • "Art": Stending and uj (really that's it)
  • Lore and Design : us too

Few words

Hello and thank you for your interest in TQQOTIF! We worked really hard to provide a game that's fun to play, and has a nice balance.

We were only two and barely had any experience with pixel art (or art in general tbh), so it was kind of daunting to make all these props by hand. Happily the wonderful GIMP's option pixelize helped us at improving our art direction!

Don't hesitate to play the game and enjoy its soundtracks and unique art style!

Cheers, matt & uj

Brilliant game, it's so funny. Maybe some feedback as to when you are hitting the notes would be great, like a particle effect.

Nice small rhythm game! The "sacrifice" felt a bit forced but never the less nice entry :)

This was a great implementation of DDR mechanics, and the twist of sacrificing bits and pieces was super cool.

Loved the Banjo-Kazooie style voice bits, although their volume might be a bit loud. Also feel like you should be able to skip through all the text if you like.

But the dialogue was funny, and the characters were strong, and the music was fantastic. Could maybe even be a bit harder. ;)

I really enjoyed the rythm gameplay and customization of features with the sacrifices you had to make along the way. I think the gameplay was really solid and it's a neat charming game :)

@luxry wow man that's so cool ! I hope the choreography wasn't too absurd for your feet :)

@uinelj actually the choreography was pretty good. There's one part of the final ramen battle that I thought was unexpected and tripped me up but the hectic nature of it went along with the music so I appreciated it. I would be hooked on a full game of this, had a lot of fun playing it.

The audio is very cool and there is a lot of work there 😁. It is simple and repetitive, you take some ideas and add them up together in this game which makes it fun for playing it first time when you don't know what's next and how the next character will be.

Did I save the planet? Did I? I need to konw! I am not very keen of rhythm games as well as I'm not very good at them. Fortunatelly yours is very forgiving so I always won the match even though I shouldn't have. Still some parts of the battles were nicely sync in a way that made sense to me and actually felt satisfiying, not chaotic as the games of this kind often are for me. I love the rest though, weird game, weird premise, weird characters, I like that very much! Interesting experience, thank you very much! :)

I haven't played DDR in a while so I was pretty rusty starting off, but I got the hang of it eventually. Luckily the AI was bad enough that it was hard to lose.

Great game, the humour was spot on and the sacrifice mecahnic was interesting enough. There were a few problems around the place, like I feel the first song didn't sync with the arrows that well, but it's a jam game so these kind of minor issues are expected.

Well done.

Saw this on Twitch and had to try it. Nice work! Your game has a ton of personality. Music is reasonably good (important considering the genre). Some of the art is going to give me nightmares though. It's fun, funny, and flies by. What more could you want?

Funny game! I enjoyed playing it and I liked the mechanic of choosing between every duel ! The atmosphere of the game is strange but it is pretty unique, so I'd say this is overall a great entry :)

Aw man, a rhythm LD game, I am all OVER that.

I love that you guys managed so stuff a bunch of personality in the game too. :) I loved the way you guys implemented the dialogue system, and the writing on top of it was super clever. Also, that soundtrack was bumpin'. FanTASTIC job all around!

Unfortunately I think I encountered some syncing issues with the beatmaps and the audio. Hopefully you guys are using dspTime to keep everything in sync instead of deltaTime of fixedDeltaTime? Either that, or the grace window for hitting beats is way more forgiving than I expected.

Regardless, it wasn't too much of a detriment, because I still loved everything about this game. Awesome entry!

Thanks everyone for the feedbacks, it really helps and warms our hearts!

@coleslaughter I didn't know of dspTime actually, I feel really stupid haha! It'll probably fix the issue! Thank you so much for that info and for the kind comment!
