CPU Heater by krasse

[raw]
made by krasse for LD 40 (JAM)

This is a full-blown physics-based space shooter that will blow your mind and your CPU (with the CPU fan, if you have one, not all do, well almost all though...).

It was made in Unity and published as a web or html5 or webgl game.

Control the ship with the arrow keys and ASD, where S stands for "shoot", ha ha.

Fight your way through multiple levels and destroy the final boss!

A side note: All the models were generated procedurally, which is almost impossible to tell!!!

Destroying stuff feels really satisfying. I like general art style and particle effects are pretty neat too. Gameplay is fine but maybe a little too easy. In general pretty cool game shame there aren't more levels.

The controls were tough, but I enjoyed the slippery fun. Blowing stuff up was very satisfying!

Wow really good. Controls were hard at first but once you got the hang of them it was really fun. I just enjoyed spinning wildly in circles.

Sweet movement. Looks nice, I enjoyed the laser and thruster effects especially. Solid text in the end credits. ;)

I didn't feel like controlling the ship was too hard. I thought it made sense! Breaking stuff up feels great and the sounds & music really make the atmosphere.

I also liked that the game included a boss fight!

Could have used some textures on the models, and perhaps some more color. Otherwise really cool looking effects!
Don't know how it fits the theme thought :).

This is hard to control but fun to play. This would be a very nice multiplayer game.

I agree this would make a great multiplayer game!

Things I really liked:
- The thruster graphics. I love the effect you made for the thrusters really beaufiful
- Graphics in general
- Music
- mood

Things I think could be improved
- I couldn't tell if I was hovering on ice, or floating above the clouds. I think that could be disambiguated.

Thanks for this awesome game!

Wow, your game is really fun. I found the inertia a bit hard in the beginning, but after getting used to it it feels quite good. I agree that it would be great in Multiplayer xD

I really liked the sounds and the ship looks cool! I wasn't a big fan of the controls since they felt really slippery.

Yay I beat the boss! Fun game for the short while it lasted. Could be cool as a more fleshed out game with better looking ships, different weapons and maybe multiplayer.

Damn, and you called MY game difficult! :D
Can't decide if the ship looks beautiful or ugly, but it's unique and that's what matters. Controls are tough, sure, but it's satisfying when you get the hang of it. Nicely done!

I really liked the graphics, especially particles and camera movement. :o Nice job.

Not sure where's the theme, but oh well.

@holyblackcat the theme is explained in depth when completing the game 😉

I must admit that I found it quite hard to control, but I liked the look of it. The graphics had that "giant spaceship" feel that you used to get on old sci-fi book covers. The music was reminiscent of Peter Davidson era Doctor Who.

Nice work in this jam!
I really love drift while trying to shoot that huge boss :D
Maybe I miss some time taking care of enviroment and also it is a little tricky to aim at the beggining, but I really enjoy this little jam game/prototype! :D
