Space Shooter by Chris_Grassi

[raw]
made by Chris_Grassi for LD 39 (COMPO)

Ludum Dare 39! This is my second Ludum Dare and the theme was "Running out of power". Without any real reason why, I decided to go to space.

It's a simple premise: fly around the universe, fight off enemy ships, discover things like space stations and solar systems, and try to get the highest score you can! All that comes together in Space Shooter! (Named by my friend Autumn Leonard)

The ship feels a bit too slow, and I always get killed in one shot, which is frustrating. However the graphics are gorgeous.

The ship feels slow, I really like the graphics and sound though. I feel like the controls should have been worked on more though. Did you make the sound yourself? It seems to good to have been made in just 48h... I think you need to reread the rules, as I feel like you violated a whole bunch of them.

Awesome music and art. The idea of exploring space and going to black holes and such is great but it takes forever to make it to one place. Also at one point I was walking over something so bright you can't see your ship.

From what I know you are strictly forbidden to use existing assets such as this skybox from Unity store. You can use existing sound samples if turn them into your own music, but that's it. This is compo.

Ludum Dare 2.0398×10⁴⁶ will happen in 6.799333333×10⁴⁵ years. Did I miss a time machine invention?

Game's fine, but camera needs a rework. There are many generic shooters in LD39 and this one stands out mostly with the art, which is of a questionable origin.
