Liked the humor, Room transitions were a bit akward at times.

Game is cool, but room transitions are wierd sometimes, and my health went below zero after I died.

@radow disagree, it looks nostalgic :D
laughed a bit at main menu, game's landing page also looks impressive, feels like a lot of work's been done!
i think that sounds, graphics and idea that soldier fights computer viruses really bring us back to the 80s (but i was born in 90s so really can't tell).
thanks!

also liked the moment when chrome turns out to be a virus and vs code is what has to be removed.

Cool game!
The map was greater than I first guessed, and it was a good surprise!
Nice graphics and thrilling music.

Good memories of childhood with the windows 95-98 looking.

Good job!

That was a treat to play through, great way to show progression with the memory bar, lovely to stumble upon a game that has an ending as well, you got a good feel for the progression. The gameplay could have gotten a bit more interesting with more power-ups, but I understand that this takes time and effort that one just haven't got in a jam! Loved the music. All around a great entry! Great work! Cheerz!

@kostbllb I wasn't talking about the Graphics, but about the camera, that get's a bit wonky at times. I was fighting a couple of foes in a transition and had to move back and forth, leading to some weird transitions. But overall it's not that bad, just one of these things that happen in jam games =)

Game is fun once you get the hang of it. Really like the art style.

Very fun, this really feels like a game from 1998, everything from the graphics to the music fits very well. I especially like the song that plays. Only thing I'd critique is your take on the theme is a bit abstract, it's still just a top down shooter and doesnt really use the theme to make interesting game mechanics. Overall very good job.

The theme was cool, really cool. Even though gameplay was old school but this is epic.

Original concept :) It's good to see retro aesthetics, pretty cool art in general (The cover is marvelous xD). Also, the music fits perfectly.

It was a short but enjoyable experience :)

Good job!

Really enjoyed this game! Brings back great memories. Also your cover is really neat. I did clean out all of the rooms but I somehow clipped to the outside of the map via the blue tiles by the doorways instead of finding the way to get through the boss door. Also... where's clippy? Haha.

@jared-york We actually mentioned making a compressed version of clippy, but didn't have the time. :P

Any game that includes its own BSOD is great in my book.

Nice entry, and I really like the feel that you are inside the old Windows machine :) I only wish that this would the actual way, how anti-viruses work! :) good job!

Good entry, enjoyed play this. I did hit a small bug while playing it on the stream, but you pointed out you were aware of it already. I liked the gauntlet feeling of it with the spawner points and having to destroy the.

Adding some variance would go a long way into the game. Maybe some different weapons or power ups for the player. Some rooms felt empty with no enemies while moving around to explore, and the boss felt a bit underwhelming since it didn't seem to have any attacks.

Graphics were good though, and as I said at the start of the play on stream, it kinda reminded me of smash tv from the gif, though it wasn't like that once actually playing. I think this would fit great with a game play similar to that, maybe a mix of that and the gauntlet style.

Here is a link to play through on the stream: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297565542

Loved it. The aesthetics are great, it totally feels like something from Windows 98 xD

Okay, gameplay but felt like I was doing nothing most of the time, more enemies and hazards could solve this. The running out of space part of the game was there, but bare. It was just keeping a counter down most of the time. Good level design and good art & sound! Good job!

Very nice job. This game has such a good mood / feel. My only negative is that its sometimes hard to tell where the entrances to different rooms are.

Fun game. It satisfied my NES game craving. Music was a little loud, and pausing the game didn't seem to stop the game, but other than that I had fun with it. Good work!

Cool game - I think we clearly were some on some kind of crazy brainwave together because we both had a very similar and excellent idea 😂
Check mine out - I swear I didn't hack into your computer's webcam and observe your idea generation process and then steal your idea https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/defrag-1

Nice game with great music! One small thing that took me a bit to realize was where to go after I shot everything in the first room. I first tried to go through the 2 rocks because I thought they looked like they'd do something, and only after that I found that I have to go to the side. The reason why I didn't go to the side in the first place was because the floor was different, so maybe making the floor in the connectors the same as the floor in the rooms would make it a bit more clearer. Anyways, this is just a small thing. Great job y'all for making this game! :D

I love the throwback to Commando, probably a top 10 NES game for me. I also loved the Gauntletness of the game, which I guess is also a top 10 game for me. The pace of the game was good but the lower left sections seemed to be unusually empty, not sure if it was procedurally generated and I got bad RNG. You have some talented artists on your team, I look forward to future entries from you guys!

Interesting game! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 42 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/F8Gtbi3loPc
