Milky Way Expansion by Quails Hill Studio

[raw]
made by Quails Hill Studio for LD34 (JAM)
A simple yet chalenging game where you have to help grow the milky way by protecting it from asteroids using and fusion ressources.

Use the left button to fusion ressources as soon as they reach the center of the galaxy, and the right one to throw a shield that might help you destroy everything approaching, may it be good or bad.
Sometimes, an asteroid or a ressource may survive the shield, beware ;) !

I tried to respect the two tied themes, and it's a first for me, sadly did not have much time to make this one.

Used Gimp, audacity, and libgdx with java.

Hope you enjoy it !

The gameplay was so-so.. But I really enjoyed the overall feeling of the game, with the mix of the graphics and the ambient sound in the background.

This game is very pretty (everything from the glowing particle trails to the little details like the font choice and the game over screen overlay feel well put together, good job on that), but the gameplay is lacking. I had to read the explanatory blurb on this page before I could understand what was going on, and even then it wasn't immediately clear what was a resource and what was an asteroid, it took me a minute to figure out the difference. And the mechanics themselves feel kind of arbitrary. There's no particular challenge or intrigue, and I can't really say it's fun.

Nice particle effects and spinning galaxy :)
Your gameplay is just another form of Tower-Defense. A bit lacking though.

Hrm. I'm not sure I totally understand how to play, even after reading through the instructions a few times. I did finally figure out that I have to wait for the resources to make it all the way into the middle, and then "fusion" does...something. It was a little upsetting that the shield doesn't always work.

The feel was nice though, nice looking particles.

Nice sounds and graphics. It wasn't clear how to play at first, but I think I understood. It isn't fun to replay it a lot at this state, but with more time of development could become a very good game. I like the concept here.
