Monkey Beat by Zangold
Monkey Beat is a one-button rhythm game heavily inspired by PaRappa the Rapper. In this game you will face charming characters in rap battles.
For you to sing, you must hit the Space button when the notes of the music come over the vinyl disk. But be careful, miss too much notes and the crowd will get really mad!

This was our first gamejam so please be kind :D

- Increase feedback of when i am successful
- Consider removing the need to be on beat in order to HEAR the words, intead the user needs to hit the valid area passing in order to get points, increase points the more accurate it is to beat.
- If you wanted to fix something to be more to theme, have the valid zone to hit be larger and over time or as levels get harder decrease their size.
-- Maybe the area on the field shrinks as I fail hits, and remove your health bar.
The gameplay is a bit too simple being one-button game but still surprisingly hard. If I understand how it works correctly, the crowd gets mad if you miss the beat or press space when there is no beat, which is a bit unfair in my opinion, because then the crowd gets closer 2 times when you press the space at the wrong time on one note. It ecncouarages the player to not even try to hit space if they are not sure if they are going to hit the note just to be safe. Other than that the game was really nice! Would like to see where it goes in the future
The art is really nice though and if the mechanics weren't such a struggle for me it would be a pretty good cute little game.
Pretty vague on the theme but it's not really the best theme as far as creativity goes to be fair
I don't think this had anything to do with the theme, which is too bad.
When I lost, I expected the audience to really tear into me, since it said they would get really mad :P
The art style was cute, and the UI was simple and clean
Good music and art
Well done!
