Crustal by Coffee Bland
Coffee Bland's latest batch:
The last bastion of hope for this small world.
It must be protected at all costs! Alas, hordes of musterds creep in the shadows...
Follow franctically behind the Crustal as it wobbles along, and try to survive as long as possible. Move with arrow keys and shoot with wasd.
The game's written in Lua, running on Löve. You can install it and run love on the .love file. If you're on Windows, download the corresponding zip file and unzip, there is an executable in it. If you're on OSX, download the corresponding zip file and it contains a .app (you'll have to let your computer run it since it's not registered).
While overall the idea and execution is pretty tame, we're very happy overall with what we've managed (considering we weren't able to work on it the whole weekend, and barely on monday).

Congrats on your game.
The only thing missing is some great music and SFX... would love to make some one day
I really like your take on the theme with the small area of space, and you have to fight through the horde of musterds. Definitely created a lot of challenges. I just wish that there were some music and sound effect to make the game feel more full.
Overall, great entry!
I wish it had at least some basic sfx and music it would be really nice.
Great job!!
I really liked the art. Even with such a small number of assets, the animations and colors had a really cool feel. And the effects were amazing, I loved the beams and the tiny green area within the purple wasteland.
I agree with the other comments that some sounds would have made it even better. The art was already so weird and evocative that I found myself wondering what kinds of sounds these strange crystal beings would make as they walked around.
Overall indeed it was very much a shame we couldn't get sound in, there is a post-ludum version in the works however...
@yoanndeplo: Agreed, it would've benefited the game to support both controllers, mouse aim and the keyboard and that's among the additions of the post-ludum version.
I'd have liked some more explanation; it's *there*, but it's so small people can easily ignore it, and the blue boxes only give a 'press space to release wave' *during gameplay*. You could file that last bit under 'well its fun to have some mysteries', but I'm very tired from work right now, and it took me quite a while until I read that you should use WASD to shoot
However, as said before, the lack of audio is almost audible :P
Recording sounds or using bfxr could really make the game better without investing too much time.
