Gameplay originality

Mr.Tobro is a SHOOTER TOWER DEFENSE where TOWERS DON'T SHOOT AUTOMATICALLY and where YOU RUN OUT OF SPACE quickly. (well as I didn't have time to balance the game, you run out of space only at the beginning... will make that better later !)

Jam Commentary

I submitted this to Ludum Dare #42 and the LOWREZJAM. I had to create a game with the theme "Running out of space" and with a 64x64 resolution (Yes I'm very clever about that I know). The constraint fits perfectly the theme, I literally ran out of space making this game. Moreover the main mechanic is about building turrets on the few available spaces you got, the more you build, the more you run out of space... It was my first time time using pico-8, and it was awesome.

Played about 20 min, it took me a few game overs before I really understood what I was doing. I'm conflicted on the art style, I really like this aesthetically but the resolution makes it hard to understand what's happening, it reminded me of Tamagotchi. The gameplay was very hectic, but the good kind of hectic :) Good Job!

Really cool! Lovely arts (the Windows intro music made me laugh)
Maybe the difficulty curve can be improve (the space is not really a problem after 60 seconds)
But despite this, great game!

Cool, my game is made for both the LD and the LOWREZJAM too. Still have a few more days to add what's missing before submiting to LOWREZ.
I really enjoyed the gameplay, and the sfx fit the game well. One thing I would try to change is the colour scheme. At the end I believe it spelled "you won" but the text was pink and so were some of the viruses' parts on screen, so I couldn't read well.
Congrats on you game and good luck on the other jam as well :)

By the way, is there a way to lose? Because at the end I couldn't keep up and just let the enemy take over, but I still kept gaining points until the "you won" message appeared.

@siridakis Thanks dude ! I'll keep that in mind. Yes you can loose, I just forgot to remove the debug mode xD

Fun game. I didn't quite understand it at first but after playing it for a while I got the hang of it. It turned out to be a quite difficult defense game. SFX was nice and it fit the game well. Graphics were nice too. Gameplay was good.

Overall nice game. Had fun playing it. Good job.

Really nice game. I got addicted to it. The graphics were too pixelated but if you could work on it more, the game would look nice.

Well done ! You're obviously in the theme ! As both your game, and the time spent making it was about running out of space ;) congrats on fitting so much on a small screen. Nice sound effects, that windows xp boot up sound remixed in 8-bit got me, I wasn't expecting this.

The low-rez graphics make it a bit hard to figure out what's happening at first, but once you get it, it's a lovely little game. I liked that there's different types of towers and how you have to keep running through your camp and activating the towers. The game sometimes experiences slowdowns when there's lots of bullets on the screen, but that's a minor issue. Overall - well done!

Nice game, graphics are lovely. As others mentioned, the space is quickly not an issue but nonetheless it is fun to play.

Ramped up pretty fast haha but pretty fun, straightforward TD with a twist. Enjoyable.
