Pub Crawl by bentglasstube

[raw]
made by bentglasstube for LD 40 (COMPO)

Try to go to every pub in the neighborhood and try all the different beers they have to offer.

Arrow keys/WASD to move. Space/J to select

The bars close at 02:00 but you can take however long you like to walk home.

There are two bad endings and one good ending, can you get them all?

[update] There was a problem with the music files in the initial release. I have fixed this by just re-encoding the files at a different bitrate so this was not a substantial change.

I didn't really enjoy this game. The objective seems to be to got to all pubs, and to drink every type of beer possible, but I easily got 100% just by drinking every beer with an unfamiliar name, with cash to spare. The hardest part of the game play was planning a route to begin with, and the ABV did not effect my movement in any significant way, making the game rather unchallenging and montonous, highlighted by the character's slow movement. The bartender sprites gave me a good chuckle though. =)

The game is working, the theme is there but the gameplay, especially for someone who does not really drink beer is not really that fun. Good job anyways :)

I tried all the pubs and eventually had to wash dished.

Nice effort. Nice Text Dialogue system implementation

Neat game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 40 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nsp8m-rrtCY

Cool idea. I think it would be nice to add a story line. Now it's just a beer drinking simulator. Visual novels and adventure games need a little more meat to the bones to be fun. I appreciate it that you didn't just go the cookie cutter route and instead innovated.

When I started, I was like "I sure hope that dot gets worse at walking as the night goes on!" and sure enough, it did!

In the linux version I had to create a folder content and move all sound and image files there. Also i had to run this game from terminal as it was recognized as a library in Files but that may just be my computer. After copying the files I was able to play. Besides that it was fun to play and the music really added up to the mood.
