Gather some Vikings’ folk to repair the beached Drakkar you’ve found on your wild island, but the more men you get the harder it becomes to handle everyone…
I hope that you'll enjoy it, it's quite open you're pretty free on how to handle things.
I would have loved to add polish and many other things but it's a one man's work on 3 days and time is up!
How to play:
-You need to hit 5 time a tree with an axe to cut it down, then you can gather wood by hitting the fallen part.
-Axes are sold by merchants (or you can grab it on a dead man…).
-All vikings can follow you if find how to win them, they will then try to help you in your tasks.
 Play it here!
PS: the music is Flutes for Misha by Patrick de Arteaga.
Cheers!

@timestop yeah, that was quite hard to make all this in time so I was quite short on the polish.
But I wasn't able to complete it. I don't understand why some guys stop to follow me, and sometimes they block my way.
Really nice fun game, plays nice with the theme. I enjoyed conversations between them.
@stevie-bushman yeah, the 4 on wood was accidental but I should have corrected this.
@dimesto52 you should hack rabbits to gather meat.
@saviourgaming the camera traveling was a choice, maybe not a good one, to ease the memorizations of the areas.
@eric-florio when you don't have enough food for every one they progressively stop to follow you (also they can be blocked by objects, I had no time to build a complex pathfinding system)
@mess110 yep, with more time I would have add some idle times to the rabbits and the boat should have been more central on the island.
@automatonvx yeah, more polishing would have great, for the music I wasn't sure but that's mainly a rating for the work of Patrick de Arteaga (plus my meagers sound fx) and how it fit the game. That's a feedback I m happy to have.
I don't know how but my player was going down for no reason, and it was impossible to go up.
Also when i got more vikings, i cut a tree and i got 2 fallen trees on the ground instead of one.
Player movement is too slow I think, and a walking animation could have been super cool.
The idea of taking more and more vikings bros is very cool, but I think it goes the opposite of the theme because the more you have, the easier it is !
Liked the humor "You stink ! You farted again ?" haha
Overall it's a good game but bugs need to be fixed
One bug I had was that when a message appeared the game didn't take input but continued running. So at times, my character would just walk away. Nothing too major though.
A walking animation would have really helped get the graphics to the next level in my opinion, but that's nit picking.
I will look at those issues and I will add some animations too.
@antoined73 Everything is not really easier when you have more vikings because they eat your food but you need them to go further. I also planned to add quarrels but I was too short on time.
Yes, I think that I will add a run to the player.
However lack of UI was frustrating. Would have been great to display how much resources I had in a resource based game. Player movement felt too slippery. Sometimes tree fell out of the screen. Party members didn't follow me to another screen. Party member chat came in the way of the dialog option. Lot of small stuff like this that I believe will be resolved with more play testing.
Good luck with the game!

@keppu don't you have the ressources at the top of the screen?
@cubeeo aouch, sorry about that ... Vikings are quite easily offendable. I think that it was Einar that chopped you as you may have hit him first while trying to cut some tree.
Have killed Gunthar? He's a viking not as brave as the others.
Nice game! I really enjoyed the interactions between the vikings. Graphics were nice, and I liked the flute, even if it became a bit repetitive in the end.
There were a few bugs with controls, and the henchmen would occasionally get stuck. At some point I thought two of them had fought between themselves to death, but it turned out that I'd left them around near a house.
I could see the connection to the theme, and in this case there is potential to make it even stronger (emphasise the enemy consumption, or get the interactions between henchmen really impact the game the more you get).
Congrats!
Indeed I would have loved to push further the tensions between vikings. I will probably work on this.
Tried to cut off trees with bare hands, didn't work, was sad.
Saw they were NPC's selling me useless stuff, all I wanted was an axe, so I continued my way, killing rabbits on the plains.
But then, as I were talking to another random NPC, I wondered what happened if I tried to click on him. He started to run after I punched him several times. He ran off in the plains. I ran after him. A wolf saw us, he started to run after me while I was running after a random NPC. Then I killed the NPC, and started to run after a rabbit while the wolf was running after me.
Murdered a fuck ton of rabbits, one innocent yellow-bearded lad, and died as a hero in a tremendous bare-hand wrestle with a wild wolf.
Still haven't gotten myself an axe.
10/10 can hit NPCs (that's the only LD game in which I could do it so that's full points on fun, even if I think I haven't played the game like it was meant to be)
You killed it!
In fact you can play it like you want, and killing lads is a part of the gameplay as you may see it in the dialogues.
@thebillington yeah, i was short on time.
@pizzatotino thanks, I'm happy that you like it!
Not sure if it was me going down or my crew pushing me.
Anyway, excellent idea, once I understood I was about to hire a crew I got hooked.
Aside from bugs, hard controls and annoying talking popups when walking near npcs, the only thing truly missing would be some kind of minimap, to know in wich screen I am, and wich ones I still need to visit.
Good job overall o/
But there are some issues: pathfinding is bad(both for enemies and allies), UI buttons sometimes doesn't work sometimes and scales/positions itself on screen badly - they are often offscreen. Gameplay is a kind of slow and empty.
Overall, I liked the game, but you should keep working on it.
@vlandemart yeah I'm thinking about keeping working on it. How did you scale your screen to break the interface?
