The graphics are nice, the robot is easy to control, it's a fun maze/platforming game. I managed to find Timmy, even if I wouldn't be surprised if he wakes up with a 3rd arm given how much I exposed him to the radiations! ^^
If I had to niptick, I'd say it lacks a bit of music. And I didn't truly understand the superspeed, the turbojump and the teleport mechanics, but it doesn't matter. Well done! :)
$ ./LD39
Called from /usr/share/haxe/std/neko/_std/EReg.hx line 200
Uncaught exception - load.c(237) : Failed to load library : ./regexp.ndll (libpcre.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)

You should ship pcre with your build. I have it installed, but version 3 sounds too ancient.
**Arch users beware:** I had a problem starting the game on Arch Linux. To fix it I changed to the extracted directory and then ran `ln -s /usr/lib/libpcre.so.1 ./libpcre.so.3`. Then I could launch the game with `LD_LIBRARY_PATH=. ./LD39`.
This is a brilliant and engaging game! Pixel art is great, bfxr was put to a good use, and energy mechanic along with warp worked out great and made the game.
- picking up timmy
- clear goal that wasn't combat
- simple clean graphics
Things for improvement
- would be nice to have the abilites listed in game
- some background music
- some in game instructions on where to go.
comments:
- I would have used WASD instead of SDF for movement as that is the norm
- Linux port ran fine
- how did timmy survive getting down there?
That's funny how some people found the game either really hard or too easy, meaning the balance is enough for a game jam I guess ? :D
I should definitly have made instructions clearer and maybe added some ingame instructions/tutorial (or just be better at map design to guide the player effortlessly)
I guess it's not going to be that easy to definitly move away from windows :P
That great robot save this stupid Timmy (the little brother of Jean-Bobby).
I really enjoy play your game! Nice work!
So bad there is no music :(
Maybe remember how to pick Timmy, cause I was lost at the bot of the cavern ^^
It works fine, it is complete, good job.
The art was good. Though I didn't like the sound effects. Especially the loud explosionjump.
Speaking of which. The special moves didn't seem essential to the gameplay. So why have them? Only for kicks? I did use them for kicks however. :)
Other than that, original take on the theme and I particularly liked the various power sources that could be used.
Good entry!
No, this is really a good quality work you delivered here :D Nice one!
I loved how the character say "hey" when I ran out of battery on the way back  And the "fly" ability reminds me of E.T. on Atari ! Anyway, I liked the graphics and the level design
@estebe I tried making cool special moves, so it's not another boring plateformer, and then I built the map. I guess to really push the player to use them I need a better map
@ultrarat Recharging places do actually have a blinking glow around them, but maybe not visible enough. That's one thing I need to improve next time, having a way to make sure people are seeing what they are supposed to see. (Really hard with a cheap monitor not really well calibrated)
@guckstift Actually, Timmy became a journalist in 2032 after a very brief wrestler career (He's still somehow really popular in Nigeria). He got married soon after but don't want any children because he's worried about the state of the planet :pensive:
@yopox Timmy actually says "hey" everytime you pick him up, because he doesn't like being picked-up !
Also, great work with Haxeflixel! I wanted to try my hand at it, but ended up going for GameMaker again. Nicely done there! ;)
Good job, Good Luck! :D
