Hello everyone ! We finally made our first game and entry to Ludum Dare 42.

SCR2.jpg

You are a claustrophobic cleaning man in the middle of a riot.

Try to make your way trough the crowd and do your job without having a nervous breakdown.

To keep mental stability, punch the protesters, but be careful, the authority is watching.

SCR.jpg

Difficulty increases as the objectives are filled. Protesters will speed up, policemens and them will increase in number, and you will stress up.

Follow the arrow to find the trash. Pick up some trash will give you a random bonus with random duration.

Bonuses are listed as : - Brave : Immunize to stress. - Uppercut : You are stronger than ever ! - Speed : Makes you faster. - Bad Smell : People will get away from you.

Key mapping :

  • WASD for movement
  • Shift for running
  • Clic to punch
  • Esc to quit

Everything is made from scratch, no plugins are used for programmation, only unity's API.

We hope you'll enjoy our game ! - Roots / Brett / Kentin

PS : Secret cheatcode. Press G O D in the order while keeping the keys hold on the second menu screen, and unleash fury on those damn protestors !

I Thoroughly enjoyed playing that. The player seemed to move a little too slow for my tastes however.

I really liked the graphical style cool to see a playstation-esque 3D entry. My gameplay experience consisted almost solely of walking around punching my way through the crowd not realizing what to do, still had a good time.

Punch feels really good :)
But player movement is slow, and this is a bit annoying

Fun game to play. My favorite part is definitely the punches. The ragdoll and sound just meshed together so perfectly for that satisfaction. Really creative use of the theme too, great job! I could honestly just stay in this and punch people for hours

Let's forget about cleaning. I'm not a cleaner, I'm a boxer.
I just want to punch those Protesters.😜

I don't really understand why, but i have a bug, i just can'r move, or move the camera. I can only punch. For some reason, when i alt Tab, and come back to the game, the camera has moved. I don't understand. Did i miss something? Otherwise it looks funny, Haha on se croirait vraiment en manif ;)

Beating the protesters was the most fun part definitely. I hoped I could hit the police too :D

-> Punching felt amazing

-> Movement..... yea this was BAD did not feel good. Need to fix that. It needs to not feel like I am walking through rock, soft rock

-> Get rid of shift, just make one movement feel good or you make pinky hurt

-> Need to make stress more compelling of a mechanic, atm punching people, and avoiding cops is really the central mechanic which is fine! But the stress mechanic feels tacted on and irrelevent. So either remove it, and focus on being economical with my punches so i dont get caught, or figure out a way to make that stress balance factor impact my decisions.

-> I need a clearer goal that is then supported by all other mechanics. AKA finding trash did not feel good, and my other actions really did not impact my ability to get trash. I suggest perhaps trying to get as far down in the street with the mob, or just an area that continues to build up over time and becomes harder and harder to keep people off of you.

-> good things, again punching felt amazing, ( mixed bag, you had a lot of mechanics, but they were disjointed and not necessarily paired together very strongly)

Wow, what an interesting game!

Wait, it's not.

Controls feel terrible, the run speed is at best a slow walk speed in any decent fps, the depth of field is atrocious, and there is no punch animation.

At least the visual style is an interesting choice, even if it's not pretty per se.

The fact that the main feature of the game is to punch protesters (not rioters, the only character using violence here is the player) makes the whole thing worst. This is the worst entry I've played so far.

(also don't force people to play with a WASD control scheme. Judging by the assets you chose, I suppose you're french, so you should know some people in the world use other types of keyboard)

@kokonaught Thanks for your comment.

Run speed is indeed very slow at the beginning, but after some rounds, you can't sprint anymore there's too much people to be able to run.

What do you mean by the depht of field ? FOV seems ok for me and that is the first thing I always tweak on a game when playing.

I'm also sorry to hear that you haven't the same sense of humour than us, and didn't like to punch protesters.
But I can understand that. You must be from the CGT or some other syndicate...

For the WASD control scheme you can change your inputs on every Unity launcher.

The aesthetic of the faces were quite hilarious. I had flashbacks of Goldeneye 64. I feel like the gameplay loop wasn't that challenging and that movement was quite slow, but I was digging the punch. Would love if I could bowl over multiple people with one punch.

I really like the graphic fidelity and blocky look reminiscent of something from PlayStation One era which I really liked. The player fell stiff, meaning moving really slow as if constantly stuck on something, even though I was holding shift, which as first I thought it was a clever side effect of becoming nervous only to discover that it happened even when the meter was empty. I also liked the effects of punching protesters. However, for me, maybe a 3rd person perspective option would have made it better for me, not only to traverse, but to really nail the sense of being enclosed by people with some nice animations showing me getting more nervous, heart sounds, and shaky camera perhaps even some unresponsive controls the worst I become.

I would start by reducing the amount of people from the start and maybe focus more on making paths to squeeze through and more police offices strategically put instead of using random. A game like this, would highly benefit of designed levels, I think :)
