Olafshot by SirOlaf

[raw]
made by SirOlaf for LD 39 (COMPO)

This game was made in C++ and SFML. All the base code was created 3 hours before the event started. The art was made by me in Pyxel Edit.

You move left and right with the A and D keys and you jump with Space. Shooting works by pointing the mouse cursor at something and then pressing the left mouse button! The objective is to survive by killing enemies and collecting their batteries.

Nice minimalist shooter. Simple controls and classy color palette.

That's a cute little game:D I always find it difficult to work with c++ to develop games. Good work.

Nice, but sort of simplistic. It could have done with animations and audio as well. I liked the main character sprite, though!

Initially I found it quite difficult, but then I think I found an exploit in that you can camp in the middle of the screen, letting enemies pile up, then just shoot them to get their batteries. However, I see where you were going with the mechanic and the game was literally on theme!

It's simple but it's really straightforward and stuck to the theme really well. It could be greatly improved with the addition of audio and animated sprites. It's a fun little game regardless though.

The controls feel good and the presentation, though a bit "static" because of lack of animations, is great as well. This game is a great Ludum Dare entry.

I found that enemies didn't drop enough batteries, so even if I killed them all, I would lose. Also, they dropped something else that I don't know what it was. A good start that could be expanded upon.

The controls and graphics are fine but the enemies don't change pattern and it gets a little boring.

The game is fine and the controls are good. It was hard sometines to shoot to the little enemies, and keep losing because of that. Otherwise, great job!

That was awesome! I too made my game in c++ using SFML. Great job!

I love the expression of the main character and the tiny arena!

Could have maybe used more feedback from hits and running out of energy, I didn't always know if I was doing or taking damage.

Fixing that and adding a little balancing would make this a pretty solid entry, especially considering the language and library.

Making something in C++ in a limited time is not easy. Nice work getting this one out.
