                                A mix between a racing game and a Life-Sim!

In Carmagotchi the player needs to keep their car happy by washing it and upgrading it, whilst also racing with it to gain money! After each race the player has to wait before the car is refueled or buy fuel to skip waiting. The player can also upgrade their cars speed in exchange for a lot of money. Ideally we would like to add more upgrades and customization options for the cars in the future.

Controls:

• Left and Right arrow keys for racing.

• Mouse for interaction with items.

We had a lot of fun creating this wacky little game and we're happy we were still able to submit something, even though we started Sunday night. We hope you guys enjoy the silly art and the nutty sound effects. Feel free to leave some feedback on this page (see if you can find any bugs ;) ), we are always looking for ways to improve. Have fun!!!

Edit: The prices in the shop were so unbalanced that it ruined the gameplay, I uploaded a fixed version with lower prices to itch.io, but I've kept the old one downloadable for people who want to play the original version.

Nice idea! I certainly did not expect a Virtual Pet/Tamagochi Car mashup! Your custom soundtrack really caught me off guard and made me laugh :joy: :joy:

Awesome. Love the art. When you are racing the car it looks like it has pop-up headlights, i imagined i was driving a 90s JDM car.

Cool idea but there is a major problem with the game that makes it unplayable: In the garage on the wall there is a Playboy magazine cover page. No one puts those on the wall. It should be a poster or a calendar. ;)

My thoughts:
* awesome music. Reminds me of some South Park episode... The one with cheap jewelery I believe.
* while racing if you get 2 coins in the same row, one on the left and one on the right I don't think it's possible to pick up both.
* costs are too high. I got 28$ for a race and I have to wait a lot for car to refuel. Too much waiting

Other than that it's a great entry, especially if you started on sunday. Love that happy car with square wheels. Looks sweet :D

I laughed hard when I heard your sound effects, they did annoy me a bit after a while, still very original. I think the refueling takes a bit too long. Although I should have just gathered enough coins for a refill. Well done on making this game!

The audio soundtrack was amusing and memorable. I would have preferred a calendar to the poster. The time waiting for the car to refuel was too long. It was easier to reload the game. Anyways, those aside I thought it was a very pleasant game to play and you should definitely keep at it. Good job!

The music is definitely the highlight here, very fun :slight_smile: The gameplay is a bit unbalanced as others have said. It could probably do with more depth and less waiting. I crashed straight into a rock in the middle of the road, but the car is only slightly unhappy and my biggest expense is fuel! It might actually have been more tamagotchi-like to have free things you could do with the car while in the garage.

Yeah, as others have pointed out, the music was hilarious. I've always struggled with getting proper audio and it never occurred to me that I could beatbox my way through Ludum Dare. I found that waiting to refuel was pretty tedious, though, and the store prices were steep. I see that you've uploaded a fix for that, but I played the original. Overall this was a cool mashup. Nice work.

Woaw, that's a very unique mashup! And it works very well, to my suprise :)!

The game is very fun to play, and I love the music and SFX, you made my day!
My only complaint is that the waiting time for refueling is too long, especially when you are low on cash and cannot perform any other "garage action".

Kudos for creating such an original game in one night only, it deserves one of the top spots of the "theme" category (and audio too! ;))

I haven't played it yet but man! that music!, is the same in southpark eppisode about tv shows selling crap jewlery to old people, amirite?

Interesting mix of genres, although I think that the game could have used the genres more. Instead of having to wait for such a long time for the car to refuel, there should have been something to do whilst refueling the car.

The controls were simple and easy which is a good thing. I really liked the humoristic Acapella music you created :smile:

Overall cool idea and fun implementation but there are a couple of things that could be improved!

The music, oh the music. I love it. As for gameplay, the one addition I would make is a minigame while waiting for the car to fuel, like some kind of car tuning minigame.

Fun little game! I don't really like the wait to refill concept, as it isn't fun for the player as they usually have short attention spans, but I do however like the simple gameplay and the background music. Thought it would get annoying but it only got funnier as it went on. Great job!

Audio was great, added some nice humor to the game. I don't like the system of waiting between runs if you don't wanna pay for fuel, it makes playing the game take way too long. The gameplay itself also felt a bit too easy and repetitive, some variation and challenge would be appreciated.
