A WIZARD STOLE MY CLOTHES by jellycopter

[raw]
made by jellycopter for LD 40 (JAM)

That wizard stole your clothes, go get them! Collecting crystals during the run gives points but makes you run faster, making it harder to avoid enemies, traps, and holes.

It's probably the wizard from our submission who stole them, sorry for that ✌

Good work and nice graphics !

Nice and functional running game. I love how you actually slowly get your clothes back :D
Levels are a bit too long for my taste though, since they don't feel different enough. Maybe shorter levels would have pushed me to try again to see more clothes.

Really fun game, the levels are long though. I did not hear any audio. This fits the theme quite well. My game also has long and difficult levels. You can check it out https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/speed-journey .

Also didn't hear any audio. For me the biggest problem while playing was that it's very hard to determine the length of your jump and where you'll actually land, especially as you pick up more speed.

@spierek that was definitely the harder part to manage. I was very unsure on how I could graphically show that it's always a little over 2 spaces no matter the speed. Thanks for the response though! Glad for the feedback

I felt like the speed of my guy was going from very slow to fast too quick. Which led to me getting hit without getting to respond.

Fun game though (and funny concept :) )!

Omg, I loved that run animation! Gameplay wise - it's a solid runner with a twist, maybe a bit repetitive at times. I'd make levels half as long, just to let the people enjoy a bit of variety.
And, like @swen said, 2->3 lvl has quite big speed change.

As others have said, the speed change is too steep, which made me actually think it was my PC lagging the game at first! With the slower speeds though, it wasn't too difficult to avoid the obstacles, even while trying to guess where I would land. Levels are also too long, and I often found myself wishing for the current level to end.

The game is very funny too, especially the pieces of clothing you get at the beginning! How many stages ar there in total? I only got to the first level of the second world before dying.

Interesting concept, nice graphics and animations. Especially the Shadow of the Runner was a nice effect.

But as the others already said, it needs some polish.

Why didn't you exclude the Audio-Raiting, when there is no audio at all?

Challenging game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 40 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzMlvyUelZw
