Fast Frontier by Ohmi
Theme: The more you have, the worse it is
As this is my first LD entry, I didn't expect to get much done. But I was pleasantly surprised.
Descripion
Fast Frontier is a slow paced tank game in which you progress in a sidescrolling manner. Your goal as a tank commander is to advance a certain amount of meters and clear out everything in your way. The catch is: the more bullets you have in stock, whe weaker they are. If you do yor job right, everybody can get home for christmas. Just don't lose to many men on the way.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do :D Play here: https://ohmi.itch.io/fast-frontier

Damage is a pretty random, probably too much. But thats the same on a real tank, depending on where exactly you hit it. (played too much War Thunder)
Aslo the sound levels are way different in the game and in the editor, so sorry for that.
The art and (especially) sfx are all charming and really fit the game.
The ticket system is interesting, though I'm not sure why you don't allow air-drops if there are enemies around. I once had enough tickets to buy ammo, but ran out of ammo while engaging an enemy (I'm a horrible gunner and it wasted 8 rounds firing over him). I couldn't get more ammo, so I just waited for him to (slowly) kill me.
Minor typo: the first radio tip says "Press A or -> to go left". It should say "D or -> to go right" :)
Overall, the concept works pretty well. The execution is indeed a bit rough, but as a first time entrant too, I know all too well how short these two days felt.
@budgiem2 I know :) I wanted to make it so when you're colse enough your crew would pop out and hurl grenades, to avoid this situation. Too little time for that. But i changed it right now, so that it's at least more clear when you can get air drops. Should help to avoid this a little.
However, I got really annoyed by the gun mechanics. I would change it, so that the gun is independent from the tank chassis, since when you ride forward the terrain changes in height and thus the gun jumps up and down.
After all, I enjoyed playing the game, but there is a lot of possibilities of future improvement
Unfortunately I come with many bugs... First, while I was still reading the intro panels, my mouse clicking (outside the button but in game) made the tank start to walk forward. It kept walking and going through mines while I was reading the panels, intrigued if this was intended. As I finished the panels, I soon died. Second time, while on the panels, my mouse clicking made the tank walk backwards. By the time I stopped it, it was already flying below the ground with negative meters lol (see image below).

Third time's the charm. All went well, but I felt that adjusting the slider was bothersome while trying to control the tank. The tank also started going backwards once on a more steep part of the ground. I discovered that passing through the tanks did nothing to both of us, which was kinda disappointing. Also, when I let myself die, went to get water and came back, my crew of 5 killed was already on 16 killed, as the enemies were not stopped upon game lost and kept shooting at me, depleting crew lives even though there were none. I can also keep moving the tank after dying.
I know this is a lot but it was a good entry for a first time and alone too, so don't be discouraged and keep working, this was a good work. Congratulations :)
But mouseclicks moving the tank, thats new to me. I kept the settings from the Godot editor, so it would even work with a gamepad. Maybe you have a mouse with a few extra buttons and pressed them too? I have no idea how this could happen otherwise.
I will most likely put the game on the google play store after the voting is done. Most of what you mentioned here is on my to-do list before that happens :)
