I'm super proud of the Tetris engine that I created so I'm glad you recognized some of the cool things I was able to put in. And yes, you can do all sorts of cool things like T-spins and rotation kicks to shift the Tetrominoes into tight spaces. Feel free to check out the postmortem video I did on this where I talk about some more of the cool things you can do in this game. Also I made a tutorial video where I go into detail about how my Tetris engine works and the mathematics behind it all. Both videos are linked in the description of my game. You may have ran into a bug where you don't have enough pieces to be sacrificed so the game just gets stuck in that phase. I think this is an unusual approach for this jam theme and the only tetris build ive seen so that is interesting. Also appreciate the vlogs you did about the learning points of making this game.\n\nthe cons for me were the lack of sound - the music was a really big part of tetris for me and it serves a purpose of making the game feel more dynamic - especially if it speeds up as the pieces do etc. Similarly a sound effect on sacrifice of a block wouldve given it more impact.\n\nI cant remember the control system for classic tetris (been a while!) but i found pressing UP to drop a piece to the bottom was a little counter-intuitive to me?\n\nthese are minor things that could be changed after playtesting though - so well done overall :)","likes":1,"format":"md"},{"author_name":"Johnny Turbo","author_uid":"1036518","time":"2018-12-30T23:37:04Z","epoch":1546213024,"modified":1546213024,"text":"@limnori Thanks for the great feedback, I really appreciate that! Glad you liked the videos as I found it pretty fun to share some things I learned while making this game \n\nYes, this game could really benefit from just a few simple sound\/graphical effects. Unfortunately, I just ran out of time to get some adequate ones in place.\n\nI don't think that in the original Tetris you could send a piece directly to the bottom as you can in this game and other modern versions of Tetris. It does seem a bit counter-intuitive at first but the idea is that you still use the down arrow to step the piece down one unit at a time but then you can press the up arrow to send it all the way to the bottom.\n\nThanks again for playing!","likes":1,"format":"md"},{"author_name":"fashionbatman","author_uid":"1002986","time":"2018-12-30T23:40:31Z","epoch":1546213231,"modified":1546213231,"text":"haha this was a good twist on tetris!
