The Dying Sun by DemonQueen

[raw]
made by DemonQueen for LD 39 (COMPO)

Dying Sun is about a planet that is reliant on solar energy, however their sun is dying. To survive, they build a ship to escape, but you only have 2 minutes to pick up the few people you can save. Be careful who you pick though, some people aren't team players, and everyone has their own set of skills.

I'm not gonna lie, the music is atrocious, but I'm too tired to make something better.

On first try i was reading what they had to say, I didn't pick any Trumps or sales clerks and ended up with -10000 score. Then i just took people randomly and I've got score of 1000.

It would be a nice beginning to a game like Civ: beyond earth or Aven Colony to pick your starting strenghts and weaknesses.

Nice concept overall. I liked sprites you made.

Great art ! Like @ryzy27 I made a better score while picking up random people than when I tried to listen to them. Don't count on me if we need to save planet Earth in a few decades :D

Very interesting concept, but we don't have much time to read what people say (they often have a few lines before they tell us their job), and hitting enter can embark some random passerby. Maybe reducing the overall game speed would make the careful approach more readable. In the end, I scored more by randomly picking dudes.

The background is beautiful, but I would have liked the people to be bigger, as I stumbled upon some guys I talked with already and wasn't able to recognize them.

You didn't opt out for audio ratings, but I didn't hear any audio in your game, is it a bug?

I really like the graphics, well done! The game itself is an interesting concept, but I didn't have the time to fully decide for each person so I just winged it. It all worked out, only 10% jerks :P I really liked the breakdown screen at the end and the scoring, that was cool! Great job :)

The graphics, whilst being beautiful examples of pixel art, are very small and I had to take to jumping to figure out who I was. That being said, this is a fun game and it's quite a bit different. Nice job.

Some absolutely stunning artwork (which, I must confess, is what attracted me to this game!) A very original concept, although the people themselves are very small and difficult to see, and I didn't feel like I had long enough to really talk to a lot of them.
