Randomly Relentless Rumble by Frederika

[raw]
made by Frederika for LD 40 (JAM)

Get to the door without dying! Watch out for spiders and the things that they carry. If they drop an item, you are cursed to pick it up and use it as a weapon. Not all items are good weapons (glass items, for example) and not all weapons can be used more than once. The more items you have, the more you switch between them! You don't get to pick which weapon you get to use next (you know, because of the curse...)

Arrow keys or WASD to control character and mouse to move weapons.

This game was very interesting! I've never really played anything like it.

(As an aside, I think the LD submission page could do with a screenshot from your game.)

Thanks for the feedback! I added a cover image, but it's not displaying for some reason.

Hey I thought the platforming aspect of your game was really fun! Level design was pretty solid too. Good job!

I CAN FLY!

Pretty fun concept, though the gun's a bit of a nightmare to controll

Aside form the collision and slow movement on angle tiles, pretty cool!

Neat concept! I really like what you went for, but the execution could use a little work. The platforming engine has quite a few problems, the weapon angle is a little wonky when you face backwards, and there are just some small things you could add that would add to the appeal of this game a lot, the graphics in particular. For example, a swinging animation with the melee weapons would be a great addition. This is a really nice concept though. Nice job!

Fun concept. The bow only worked once though and the beaker no longer worked when it was broken glass. Although I think that was intentional. Good job the game was fun to play.

Thank you for the feedback! We do need to work on some of the rough edges. You are right @scowling-pastry, the bow and beaker are more or less working as designed.

There are some problem with the collisions, specially on the slopes of levels, maybe you need to check the collision boxes in construct, they are a little messy sometimes. Anyway C2 it's a awesome engine, I use it in my game too.
I like a lot the different weapons mechanics and levels. It's a nice a idea to have a swapping arsenal :D

Fun game, weapons were a bit difficult to control but overall a good game

The idea is neat, a bit like super crate box, but the controls/collision/game feel make it more frustrating than it should be.

I thought it was fun to play. Loved the idea that the weapons change randomly, and thought it was hilarious how the bottle simply broke and the bow and arrow was useless after the arrow was fired.

If I was to make any suggestions I would say I wish was More random. The sword and saber are pretty similar to one another, and the game play is mostly just melee until you get a gun and shoot everything that moves. Recharging the bow or bottle after rotation could probably expand the game play a bit, or throwing the neck of the bottle after the rest of it has shattered off would be pretty different too.

In the end though, still had fun!

The idea is fun, and the game is playable, but it really needs some polish. The most issue I had with the game is already mentioned, so I will not mention them here, but one small issue for me was that the camera was too zoomed in. When all of this is said both the graphics and sound effects fits the game idea well.

Nice entry, passed the game :)

Game still really lacks polishing because of the battle mechanic, it is not comfortable and really fun. To pass the game I avoided most of the enemies I met.

Also, I catched your idea, but as for me, entry is weakly connected to a jam theme.

Anyway it is a good job :) I like that you created a lot of weapons, and some of them was fun.

The weapons changing random is tough. I think it would be easier it you had a bit of warning it was about to change. I like the idea though of constantly having to adapt.
