Sacrifices Must Be Maids is a card game for 1-2 players inspired by the card game Famiglia. The goal of the game is to acquire as many high-value Maid cards as possible by sacrificing other maids. Every card is worth its level in points and the player with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Each turn the player can play an action from their hand, and then can sacrifice two matching (same type and level) Maids to get a maid of one higher level from the middle of the board.

Card Types:

  • Angel Maid - Can be sacrificed in the Action Phase to revive one or more maids with total level less than or equal to its own.
  • Demon Maid - Can be used as a wildcard in the Sacrifice Phase with any other type.
  • Elf Maid - Can be sacrificed in the Action Phase to temporarily add its level to another maid, for the next Sacrifice Phase.
  • Witch Maid - Can be sacrificed in the Action Phase to take one or more maid cards from the board with total level less than or equal to its own.

At the end of each turn, the rightmost card on the board is discarded if it hasn't been taken, the cards move down, and the board is refilled to 5 cards. If both the action and sacrifice phases are skipped, all cards on the board are discarded instead. After the deck runs out, the discard pile is reshuffled into a new deck. The next time this happens the game will end and the points will be tallied.

Is 50 points a good score?

 I liked that the game highlighted the cards that could be interacted with during each phase of the game.

:point_right: I& tried to play the game blind (hoping it had some sort of tutorial), but when that proved impossible I read the instructions and probably understood 80% of what I was doing. I stumbled through trying to collect the large cards, but the random numbers drawn did not add up for me. :(

:star: Overall good job, and thank you for making this.
