Story

It is a dark, cold night.

You stumble upon a castle and a cave filled with dangerous monsters, rumored to be never ending.

However, that only motivates you, since you are a Knight who was trained to absorb the souls of every enemy you eliminate and grow more powerful as you do so.

As you begin your relentless attack, how many kills will it take for the very source of your power to turn against you?

Very nice graphics, I like games that have a unified aesthetic across the ingame art and menu art. This was a bit difficult though, so I was unable to finish it. Still, great job, this is nice!

I love the artwork and sound design, the enemies that hide as soul orbs are particularly devious. It's a hard game, any tips?

Really nice sprite work, the music is repetitive but dones't get annoying and fits the tone. Gameplay is simple but fun. Great Job!

Quite a lot of bugs. Seems like you need a little more practice with the engine to pull things together!

I love this old-school pixel art style - very reminiscent of the old NES games. The game is very difficult but also very fun. Thanks for submitting!

You have a unifying aesthetic to this game - the audio and visual work well together, creating a pleasant mood.
Whether I went to the left or the right, I fairly quickly came to an area that I could not jump far enough across to continue.

I like the concept of keeping the progress after death. The enemies that start in inconvenient places can be a bit annoying, but a challenge as well. When the enemies hurt you after they're already dead or when the enemies draw you back into them after you hit them (maybe some knock-back bug sending them the wrong direction?) really frustrates.

I didn't notice much of a boost after playing some time. A progress bar toward that next level might keep more engaged.

I really like the music and graphics. Good luck!

Nice job; I really like the sense of space you've created with the sound design.

I really love the graphics, they are suitably dark while remaining nostalgically pixelated. The whole game plays a lot like a classic platformer actually, which is very nice. The music and sounds were simple and fit well, the music never felt repetitive or overbearing. In terms of gameplay, it is pretty difficult, and while I haven't evenmanaged to complete the first level yet I fully intend to try to complete the game - so that's a good indicator of replayability right there. My one suggestion would be to make it more obvious when the soul-imitating creatures die - some sound or particle effect because it is pretty confusing to just dumbly keep smacking a soul orb that has already died :D

Otherwise it is a really nice game with a nice unified, finished feel. Nice work!

Uns gráfico desse, brother.
Acho que o alcance e velocidade do ataque podiam ser um pouco maiores, ta bem difícil do jeito que tá, mas fora isso tá ótimo.

The sound is great. But the character locomotion is hard to control.

Liked the simplistic

I loved the aesthetic of the game, the music, art and gameplay meshed well. My only complaint is the character's movement controls. They are sluggish (on purpose I assume?)

I enjoyed it! That said, I think it'd benefit the game if there's a short period of invulnerability when you can hurt.

Great game. The less pixels the better it looks ;)
And I thought I made a hard game. I really would love the blobs to move when being hit.

Fantastic art and aesthetic. I found the controls difficult to execute. I would have liked to use wasd.

Great work.

Great little game. The actual pixel style was great. It really felt like something from the 8-bit era! The combat fit that too even. I do wish the enemies got knocked back though. I think that would make it a bit more playable. The difficulty was nice, but some of the slime fights on small platforms seemed pretty impossible.

Very good art, a heavier visual feedback will be great. Hitting enemies dont feel so good. Also I think a longer hit range would be great since the enemies move kinda too fast for the hit range. More sound effects would be cooler as well. Good work!

A good game with a beautiful aesthetic, I liked the animations and I think the movement could be a little more dynamic, especially in the jumps. Congratulations for the game.

Um bom jogo com uma estética bonita, gostei das animações e acho que a movimentação poderia ser um pouquinho mais dinâmica, principalmente nos pulos. Parabéns pelo jogo. :flag_br:

The graphics and sound on this game are quite impressive! I player the game quite a few times, but didn't get very far due to a few issues. First off, the controls feel very sluggish when swinging the sword. Looking at the animation, there isn't a lot of leading frames, but it still feels like it takes a while to make a swing, which in turn make combat feel clunky. Second, there were spots where the bat would spawn just after a spike, and wouldn't wake up unless you jumped over the spike towards them. This would guarantee at least hitting the spike and because there are so little invincibility frames I'd usually lose two hearts there, making it impossible to proceed by skill in those situations. Finally, as a side note, I did have a case where a blob/slime wouldn't die when attacked, but kept dropping the little spheres. There might be a bug where the enemy doesn't despawn.

Sorry for going on with that. The game is beautiful though, and I love the sound track. I think a few small tweaks would make this game much more enjoyable. You aren't far off from something really good.

I really liked the sound and the visuals for this one. The gameplay itself just felt a little slow. Attacking took a while to cooldown and the movement was a little too floaty for my tastes. However, that aside, I loved the mood this game set. This is an awesome entry.

More hard than it seems, I can't count the number of times I died. The change of place of some ennemies between tries is perturbing, and can be annoying if they appear on a bad place (like bats appearing on the edge of the plateform I have to reach), but as a whole, it's a good entry, arts are fine and detailed. Good job!
