Blasé by Baesama

[raw]
made by Baesama for LD 43 (JAM)

Blasé is a point&click serious game about someone living in a routine while nothing in the life seems to be bad for this person.

GifBlasé2.gif

The game is playable with the mouse.

We tried to design our game based on the "routine" and the feeling of "indifference". Everything on the game (from the music, the mechanics or the narration) has for pillar "Blasé".

You have to click on bubble to advance in the routine of the character. Some changes will interupt the routine. But, do "big changes" have to be linked to "good" or "bad". Play the game and you will see !

We are two students in Game Design from Bellecour Ecole in Lyon, France. Benoit Deneaux : Sound Designer and Programming Léonard Savio : Narration.

Hope you will like our game !

Awesome use of sound. I really felt the impact from the progression of the melody as the days went by. Not sure if it's a bug but I made it to the boss but was unable to progress from that point. Great work though!

@legavroche Thank you ! Yes there is a bug which make it impossible to progress after the boss. We corrected it and you can already download the new version, 100% playable with no stop in the progression hehe. We tried to have great ends, let us know !

Really cool idea! It's like a reinterpretation of old adventure-style games

A solid submission. I enjoyed it. A few notes:

* Upon downloading the game, I was unable to run it. The issue being that the game's .exe is named 'Blas・exe' and the data file is named 'Blas・Data'. Making the former 'Blas.exe' and the latter 'Blas_Data' fixes it.
* The game still doesn't seem to work properly if ran in windowed mode under a smaller resolution. The buttons and text are out of the frame.
* The use of sound was creative and well-done.
* The story itself worked. The theme of sacrifice isn't too apparent until the end, but it was definitely there.
* One thing I would suggest is getting someone to proof-read the text, as there were quite a few typos. There was also the fact that, in some stages of the game, you refer to your partner as "girlfriend" but in some others "wife".

Overall, solid. As I said, I enjoyed it.

Was poignant and nice but perhaps branching paths would have made it feel less passive?

@random-wizard Thanks ! Definitly, adding some art could be great. We are pretty bad with art so we didn't want to try, it would have kill the mood instead of adding something nice

Hey, I enjoyed playing this game. The way you tell the story is quite interesting and definitely fits the gloomy atmosphere you were going for, it managed to get me involved, and even made me slightly depressed, so it worked! Great job :)
