With overpopulation on earth becoming an overwhelming threat to humanity's future, the discovery of a small habitable planet offers some hope. However, due to its size, a fierce war erupts over control of who can colonize it first. Of course, actually fighting each other is illegal in the future, so instead we passive-aggressively terraform the planet to divert the terrifying slime monsters towards their colonies instead of ours.

Download the Windows version of the game here

Slime Assault is an Online Multiplayer Turn Based Strategy game in which you have to divert the slime monsters towards the enemy colonies, while protecting your own!

How to play

Unzip the file, and run Slime Assualt.exe

Click on the tiles to indicate that you want to rotate them (anti-clockwise only), and once you're ready, click end turn. Both player's changes to the battlefield will take place, and then the slime monsters will randomly move around the map. Try to divert them away from your green colonies, and towards the enemy red ones. You may rotate up to five tiles each turn. As the war wages on, more colonies for both players will pop up (along with more slime monster lairs) forcing your strategy to evolve over time. The first player to lose all their health (from slimes running into their colonies) loses.

Notes

  • Make sure to click "Ready up" when in a game lobby with another person to start the game.
  • Unity's multiplayer sessions can be a bit buggy at times (and the multiplayer servers can go down). If restarting the game doesn't work, try selecting diffe!rent servers from the main menu in the top right.
  • If noone's online in game, check if I'm online at twitch.tv/oce_humblepie and leave me a message if you want to play. I'll be trying to stream LD games around 6-10pm NZST.

Looks interesting. I'll have to see if I can track someone down to test it with.

Sorry, I *probably* won't have anyone to play with for some time :pensive: I felt only confident enough to rate the audio, which sets quite the mood! Is there a let's play somewhere I could watch?

Interesting game! Nice GUI and nice sound track.
But I'm in the east of the world, and wait minutes seeing no one is playing this game.
Can't wait for playing it.

Suggest for a offline(like local multi seats) version sincerely.

If you have time, I would appreciate you taking a look at our game:

Making multiplayer-only games for LD is somewhat problematic.

While possible to run and play if you have friends participating in LD, you still need to gather together and play that game at the same time. Which doesn't happen that often - also as a team you can rate 2 different games with 2 people at that point, instead of playing just 1 multiplayer one.

Overall, as I went through the struggle, the graphics art is interesting and the mood is there (with the music).

Good work for making a MP game, but I can't find anyone to play with, sorry!

I even tried bringing it up on 2 computers, but still couldn't get the game to play. I did like the art and audio...

The screenshots do a good describing the game but unfortunately after leaving a lobby game open for 30 minutes nobody joined and I was not able to play :( Sorry! Wish there was a way to maybe play against another player locally or against a dummy AI that did nothing or even did random moves so I could try to extrapolate what it might be like playing against another person.

Kudos for doing a multiplayer online game within the context of a Ludum Dare though. That is ambitious!

Gotta give you props for attempting a multiplayer game for LD, I know from experience how hard that can be! Liked the art and the music. My only suggestion is to package it with something other than 7z.

I really like the premise and look of this, but sadly as of now there doesn't seem to be anyone else playing. I've made a note to come back to this tomorrow as I'd really like to give it a try!

As others have said, I admire the ambition of a multiplayer game for LD, but perhaps adding a single-player or offline mode would have been helpful.

Couldn't find anyone to play with but looks like a real cool concept and fair play for making a multiplayer game. Well done :))
