Story:

You're a tomb robber who once opened one grave too much and accidentally released a colony of monsters from hell, the monsters went to your city and started hunting it. In order to rescue your city you went to a very isolated and far away Mayans temple. The legend says that the Mayans got a special weapon from aliens that visited earth thousands of years ago that can kill creatures from the world beyond. But surprise is waiting for you at the main hall of the temple, you get locked with special ghosts that have physical body and can get killed by your sword, but that comes with a price, every time you kill a monster your soul is corrupting by a bit, eventually you'll be turn into one of them, to heal yourself you'll need to pay HP and to short your life. The gate to the weapon room will open after you'll beat all of the waves of the monsters.

The theme (Your life is currency) within the game:

In CorrupSoul , In order to make it through you'll have to pay good amount of HP to survive.

Gameplay tutorial:

1.Use the WASD keys to move

1.Use the WASD keys to move Use the 'F' key to attack Use the 'Z' key for interaction (instead of ENTER)

2.To fix your soul you need to in front of the soul soul purifier facing it and then press 'Z' to interact with it,the soul bar will reset and the health bar will lose 5 point's of 20;

Use mouse:

When turned on: When you want to attack, click in the direction you want to attack and the character will turn automatically and attack.

When turned off: When you want to attack you'll have to turn the character manually but you can still activate it by clicking or pressing 'F'

Note that the exploding monsters can explode on walls

3.: When the waves are done the door will open, just go in front of it and press 'Z'

4. Make sure that the health bar doesn't go empty and that the soul corruption bar doesn't go full.

A little disclaimer - Even though we participated in the Jam (the 72 hours challenge) we couldn’t work for 26 hours so the game did not come out as good as we wanted :(

Problems:

The AI is so annoying! Yes we know that,we had problems with the collision system of th enemys and that's the result

Why can I only attack in 4 directions?! It's coming from lack of sprites for the character and one lazy graphics man.

We'll hopefully make a post jam version

Well despite some bugs about the character, sometimes teleporting, doesn't seem that he can attack in every direction, the game is neat and the idea is great! There's actually a big lack of feedbacks, I can't know if I hit something, if I'm getting more corrupted or losing lot of health (of course there are bars, but I don't want to check my screen's corners everytime ^^). Might require some work on that, but it is a good prototype!

@saering, we are aware of the lack of feedback, we had to stay with knockback as feedback because we didn't have enough time to make sound effects :(, when we made the bars I thought they will be bigger.The character can attack in only 4 directions.We know that it needs more work and we are going to do that,Anyway thanks for the feedback! :)

I played it and here are my notes;

First of all i strongly recommend you to change control scheme in menu and game. Secondly in this page it is saying that you can attack in 4 directions but i couldn't manage to attack in 4 directions. Only up and down worked for me. I liked adventurer and ghosts :D And the music! Good luck!

@noah-reinagel, you need to kill all monsters without dying,to attack,just click one of the 4 directions you want to attack , you will die if your HP bar is empty or if your soul corruption is full, to empty your soul corruption bar go to the wall with the Libra on it, face the wall and touch it and then press 'Z' , the soul corruption bar will empty and your HP will go down by 5. when all the monsters are killed, go to the right upper corner of the room and enter the door,congrats, you finished the game! If you have any more questions just tell me :)

@curled-leaf, thank for the feedback! about the attacking system, the up attack is kind of hard to see but it is working, when I tried downloading the game from the web and play it, all of the direction work for me pretty fine,although the down attack had a pretty small zone,so try it again and see if that works, if that didn't work you can always turn off the mouse in the settings and aim manually :D

Interesting game. Once I understood what to do I had a bit of fun with it. A common mistake or something jammers don’t have time to do is add an explanation for their game. A simple text describing the gameplay or controls would help tie the game together I think. Very fun once you understand though. Really nice entry

I like that it's very Indiana Jones-y. :) Good music too. I'd like to see some visual and audio feedback when you attack enemies.

@aim, we thought that the knockback when the player hits an enemy and when the player gets attacked was enough, apparently we were wrong... thanks for the feedback :)
