Interesting game, though I got bored rather quickly. After a few playthroughs I felt like I saw everything there was to see. That said, I like the graphics and sound effects. And the monster designs are interesting.

The graphics and sfx are nice. I think that the gameplay loop could be a lot more interesting if you expanded on it by adding more enemies, power ups, ect... In my opinion, this game has potential.

I like how this entire game stayed true to the aesthetic of the art. Well done.

Unfortunately, I'm not entirely clear how the power mechanic works, so maybe you could make that a bit more clear. Though, I may just be blind.

But the combat is fairly solid and the variety of enemies is interesting.

@thepelranthean Oh yeah I figured out some people have problems to understand that mechanic.
The game itself is divided into two phases. A powerful one and a weak one.

While your power bar at the bottom reduces, your attacks/roll gets weaker. Also your character "burn" effect will go down. After your power ran out the game freezes for a second and you switch to this "Weak" Phase where you are unable to roll very far or attack.

Great game!

For the first time I thought obstacle is a solid wall, but now I see that it's a pillar.
Those pesky little creatures a way more dangerous than big ones :)

Satisfying gameplay and consistent aesthetic, I can't find much negative to say, an awesome entry !

I had some trouble understanding the mechanics at first as well and only got it when I read your comment above. It could be a good idea to add that explanation to the actual page if there are others like me. Other than that the art style is really cool and atmospheric, and the sound effects fit in well with the overall aesthetic. Everything is very consistent, nice! It's a really great game, and I enjoyed playing it.

OOOO! Nice game felt very fair to me! GG. Being a fan of nuclear throne I was instantly drawn to this! Loved the intro animation

Cant express how much I approve of this style of graphics :yum: Animations were spot on as well. Gameplay took me a couple times to fully understand but wasn't too hard. Nice work, hope to see more games from you!

Cool graphics style, interesting main hero weapon, sounds complimenting overall game mood, I like it. The strong and weak phases make up an interesting dual-phased gameplay and go for an interesting theme interpretation of "What exactly happens when the power runs out? Do you die or do you simply change?", just great. A solid entry, especially for compo. Well done!

Thanks to all of you guys for these awesome responses! I really appreciate it :)

@eliana Sadly I have no Mac to test it :/ But maybe a friend can help me to get this running on Mac.

This had some vlambeer esque "art of screen shake" applied to it, it felt like the start of a great mix between super meat boy and any game made by vlambeer.

My only critique would be the audio and the controls.

Add some variation to the sound effects and lower them a tad. As for controls they mapping were good, I would have liked it a little bit "tighter" with better response (mainly on the roll/dash).

The game was really fun and I LOVE the simplistic art style and the hectic gameplay!

Great LD entry!

I'll be honest at first I thought this was going to be a cheap remake of Downwell. You perfectly captured the art style of downwell either intentionally or unintentionally. Not that there's anything wrong with that, it looks great!

Gameplay loop was solid although it would have been nice to have a longer 'combat' section. Overall a decent entry, definitely an excellent entry graphics wise. Good work!

I really liked it, i think it would be a lot better if you could roll in the direction you are moving instead of where your crosshair is, rolling backwards while shooting would be awesome. Great game!

Fun game with nice graphics and responsive controls. My only complaint is that the map seems to get too cluttered with enemies. A larger map would have been nicer. Great job though!

Very nice art. It reminds me a lot of Downwell :) You might want to make a web build available so that people don't have to download the executable.

Love a good twin-stick shooter! Love the 2-bit colour art style. Noticed the UI doesn't scale with the screen, was playing on 1280x720 and some of the buttons were going outside the screen.

Wow, cool game! Really nervous and efficient.
The monochromatic graphics are awesome, I love the monsters design, very enigmatic but oppressive. Sound is just what it needs, so congrats. You game really has a spirit :)

Not that much to say, the gameplay is mastered, I'd like to play this game with other levels/environment mechanism/monsters.

Pretty solid entry, well done.

Really nice graphics, that intro animation is superb! Maybe if killing enemies recharged a bit of power it'd be a little more engaging, so that the player has to thing how much power he uses and how much he'll get in return.

This is great. It's a great mix of lofi and hifi in the graphics. I really like the overall aesthetic. Post-jam you should add some intense background music to get players amped up, but, for a 48-hour compo entry just having sound is huge! Nice work!

Impressive artwork man! Teleport effects and thunders are amazing. I miss some mistery/action music to pump it up, but the FX are pretty good. One thing I think could improve it is the addition of ranndom power ups so you can refill the weapon (not forever) so you can extend the gameplay. One of my favourite entries until now!

Great art and effects! One thing I would like to point out is to keep the graphics more consistent. You were so close, but I noticed some of the smaller enemies were scaled down so the pixels were smaller and also the score and cursor were not pixelated. This game has lots of potential and I love the 3 colour design (exactly like mine :P). It reminds me of a mix between nuclear throne with the art style of downwell.
