Tiima's Sacrifice by bastilo

[raw]
made by bastilo for LD 43 (JAM)

Tiima village is in danger! Find the right animals to sacrifice them to the ancient god by using his hints.

The ancient god Uguun is angry and there is only one way to appease him again: Sacrifice the animals he chose to him! But he is too angry to communicate clearly so use his hints and find the right animals. Beside that you have to care for your farm and the food production of your village. Good luck!

Tiima's Sacrifice is a puzzle / strategy game.

I really enjoyed your game, it was simple but addictive. The web version shot down at week 1 so I had to download the game.
I went through it all and had fun! Some of the hints were redundant, for exemple "strengh is medium" and then "strengh is not high", it was a bit frustrating. But appart from that, great game overall!

I felt bad about butchering some of the animals and wish there was a vegan option. Anyway it took me a while to figure out how to breed the animals and make enough cash to get the right hints. Challenging but not too difficult.

I had to try it several times before I realized that your villagers actually starve xD. After that point it was cool though. Are the soundeffect made by yourself? If so let me know how you made the demonic laugh - it was really fitting.

I agree with @willoxs, the evil laugh was well done.

Thank you, @gamebuilder and @willoxs for your feedback. First, to disappoint you, the sound effects are not self made, they are from online sound effects databases and have a public domain or Creative Commons licence. But the music and everything else is self made. Also good to read that you had fun with my game 😊

This is a cute little management game. The mood and the artwork has that Harvest Moon / Stardew Valley feel. I lost very early on in my first run, because I ran out of animals as I was trying every item in the store… in my second run I was very careful to have as many animals as possible and just use them for the minimal amount of food and for buying extra villagers. This allowed me to finish the game and go to that fancy island with kittens!

The music is a bit repetitive but still nice

I must admit that by the end I was just ignoring the hints, because they were often frustrating: for instance I had the hint “it’s a cow” then two other hints would be “it’s not a chicken” and “it’s not a pig”… or three hints would be about size… I understand they’re just randomly generated but maybe it would not be too difficult to make them a bit more helpful. One additional nitpick: it’s boring to have to close the animal details window, I would really appreciate if clicking outside of the window could close it, too

Overall a nice game, interesting enough that I finished it, and well within the theme.

@samh Thank you! Right now I consider to create a post LD version that will fix some bugs and improve the annoying parts so thank you for your feedback on that.

Interesting game, needed more than few minutes to figure out how it works. Clicking each animal every day was pretty annoying, so I prefered to just sacrifice villiger than to spend a lot of time to find the right animal, and even if I did so there was always possibility of failure. The music was a little bit too loud, but it was nice anyway :)

I thought the art was okay, good use of the theme to make a game. To me the game was a bit tedious to play sorry.

A funny little guess game, that I played until I win. Maybe a little easy, but, hey, it's hard to balance a game while the short time of a LD. Arts and music make the mood, and animations are simple but do the job well. Good job! :)

Solid entry, liked the art. At first a little bit confusing, but I got a grap pretty quick of how to manage it. :)

I had trouble understanding fully the game but afterward, I thinks it's a clever and interesting concept. It's a simple "management" game with a twist, where you have to think about which ressource keep and which sell. It's maybe a bit simple and repetitive, but I still think the concept is great and deserve to be expanded. Good job :)

I really like the music in this game :) its simple but sweet and compliments the art style well. One problem would be that the gameplay seems a little slow. Other than that, great submission.

Had a lot of fun with this game! Found it pretty addictive and played it for probably longer than I should have :)
I managed to complete it eventually, and only had to sacrifice one villager.
Would be nice if there was a way to quickly see the stats for all the animals, it got kind of tedious clicking on them one by one just to see the weight/size/strength of each.

This game was strangely addicting.

I think it was a lot of fun trying to figure out which animals not the butcher. I didn't lose any villagers, so I guess I interpreted the hints correctly.

A neat little management game. Some of the hints are definitely more useful than others. "It's not a cow" - which ones are supposed to be the cows?!

Thank you @kaeveris and @f1krazy :)
The hints are definitly better in the post jam version (which will come out in the future) and also there is the type of the animal written down. But thank you for your feedback :)
