Reap into Cash

deadlikemeparodybackground.png

Directions:

WASD to move. Arrow keys work too.
Grab your victims to reap them, their lives are your currency. Get it?

Rules:

Other Reaps are gunning for your peeps.

They will reap any peeps they can grab.

If they grab you, they will steal your hard earned cash.

You start will 10 CASH.

If you run out, you "die".

Once you reach 30, ~~or whatever arbitrary number I change it to during DEV,~~ you "Win!".

Story:

You are running around as whatever monstrosity God created or allowed to exist that is neither Man nor Grim Reaper.

You reap victims anyways, at your leisure, to save up enough life-cash-soul-essence-billfolds to purchase your very own Scythe and become a full Grim Reaper.

Simple yet engaging. Reminds me of the 80s games formats.

Although it had a simple premise the game was fun for the minute or two it took to win, and I enjoyed the soundtrack as well. I believe the gameplay would have been a lot more engaging if you redefined the role of the reapers and set a limited amount of peeps that spawned. If the reapers sole purpose was to hunt you down and kill you on contact (for stealing their peeps) and you had to navigate around them looking for peeps to reap then the game play could have been extended a bit without having to change much logic.

Thanks for rating our game!

@rainetheglutton The other Reapers do hunt you down, just moveToObject() with some jitter instead of any real pathing. We did experiment with lower peep volume, but maybe came to the wrong conclusion lol... It's a one line fix

@jedineeson You can thank @blondhie for the wonderful audio. She is truly the light (and sound) of my life <3

Why is everyone naked XD ? I like the hectic feeling of all the npcs running around, and the graphics are cool too.

Every one is NAKED!!!! HAHAHAHA. For real though this game is well designed and was fun to move around and get away from the reapers. I think this is a great jam game, and you should continue upon it :D

That was fun! With a more robust AI and some levels, I could see this being a fun game to kill time while waiting in the carpool line. Great job!

A fun little romp for sure, I loved the Reaper sprite at the end!

This game is fun, with no major bugs. Peeps do get stuck by walls where they're easy to ... um ... liberate. Music and sound fit well with the game. It might be better if the Reaps were a bit harder to dodge. Great job!

Thank you guys! I did focus on **good** over **long**, so we have tiny simply-generated levels. I agree with everyone, tackling that could help expand way past jam into a really cool game!!

I'm so grateful for all the good feedback and I'm excited to see and play more of your games too !! <3

Too easy ;-; which isn't a bad thing, but because I think the game was supposed to be fast-paced and challenging, instead of a zen relaxing experience, it could've benefitted from being more challenging. Either that or if you want to go for a more zen experience, relaxing music or nice artwork to look at XD idk

Quick and really easy to avoid the bads, could be slowed down a bit to make it more challenging. The audio was 🔥 🔥 🔥

Nice job. It would be nice if the game was a little bit more challenging.

As everyone said, a bit to easy! It should be easy to balance a bit! Keep up the good work!

Nice work, simple and straightforward; our team came across this kind of idea during brainstorming, but decided it was too dark... Otherwise an additional challenge (aside from adjusting speed) could've been different level designs. Or changing some parameter the more lives you collect.

Was a little confused what I was doing and who was good or bad but figured it out eventually.
Very simple, but I kept hearing a crackling noise which I guessed was the many footsteps of people?

Like others said, it was a little too easy - upping the difficulty could make this a much different experience!

Very nice! All the sprites look amazing and the music is perfect. One small thing I noticed just in terms of polish was that when I try to move diagonally, the animation freezes on a single frame so the sprite appears to just be drifting around. Also the first time I played, I spawned in a tiny boxed in area and couldn't do much but wait. Those are just small things though, and overall the game was still very enjoyable!

Nice work! :)

I really liked how short and sweet this game was! It was very simple but that was kind of its charm. Simple controls, very easy to pick up what to do, and some good humor in the instructions. Well done!
