Interface was intuitive. Music and mood were nice. Burning hellscape of the tormented in the background was a nice touch.
Would have been interesting to somehow infuse some overarching story over the course of a number of rounds, but I don't really know how that would work, and this is already a pretty big scope for 48 hours. Nice submission.
Then I used the zip file and could see everything and lost in 2 hands. Just goes to show my luck I suppose. Great concept and execution.
I liked the music and graphics :)
P.S. Cool Kaiji reference
I lose in the first round. Every time. No matter what.
And I always appreciate music in compos.
Some things that bugged me a bit:
- The "wager" system did not quite sell it to me. In the end, it felt better to just always wager all your life to make the game go faster.
- It was not very clear how much life you get when you win. Once I waged 30 and got 30, once I waged 90 and got 10, once I waged 100 and got 0. Is this based on how much the enemy wages? Any way to check that?
- It would have been nice if you gave names to the enemies ;-) Always better to beat someone you share a personal connection with!
Good game! I hope to see a post-compo version!
