Beth's Shop by Cuppycat
Beth's Shop
For this Ludum Dare entry, I decided to make something that I haven't made before. A puzzle game! I don't really want to say too much else, I hope you enjoy it!
I think most bugs are out, but please tell me if you find one!
Known issues
At the start, you have to hold right to get out of the house. It's a bit unclear, I admit :p
Controls
Arrow keys/WASD - Movement

Edit: Whoops, I thought I was replying to the game!
Also with the climbing when you're slow climbing and stuff, when you grow up and if the jump animation was faster than the climb, that could add some feel of growth.
Nice puzzle game though, I enjoyed it!
Backtracking (backcrawling?) was long, and some animations might be faster, I guess, but they were smooth and nice to watch (well maybe jump was a bit silly), and the music was pretty, so I didn't mind.
The minimalistic artstyle and the music fit perfectly together!
It's not totally obvious that you have to keep moving to the right at the beginning.. At first I thought something is not working correctly.
Maybe add something more obvious to show that?

But yeah it's a little misleading that you have to hold for a few seconds, maybe if there was more feedback when you hold it that would make it more clear.
I played it fully now and you managed to set a great mood with simple mechanics. I felt like I wanted to know what was happening, why I was thrown in this destroyed world and why Beth's shop was destroyed, or who Beth is to being with. This curiosity made me get all the way to the end and I felt quite touched with the ending. I must admit though, i didn't quite understand what exactly happened in the story, I'm a little slow to figure these things out hahaha
But as you can see you managed to get people's interest with your story and the overall mood and theme, very nice job! :D
The beginning is definitely a thing I should fix, haha
That was a sweet experience. Pretty good too for your first ever puzzle game! My main gripe is that while I do think it works *very* well thematically, the really slow movement does get tiring, especially given how much ground you have to cover. The music is also mixed sort of quietly, which is a shame because it's quite beautiful.
Speaking about beautiful, the artwork is great, and the age mechanic is clever. Everything here definitely contributes to the core theme you were looking to express, which I think is something missing from a lot of Ludum Dare games. Great work.
The animations were awesome, and you even had time to design the puzzles, such a cool entry!
