Nice and fast game :)
An overall cool experience! (Please check out my game if you have time, i need a few more votes)
Assuming the bullets are intended to be lasers, them curving 'round the planet from gravity makes absolutely no sense, but...meh, science.
The controls definitely need some tuning, and the difficulty needs to be turned down a notch, but with some powerups and or alternative weapons, it could work.
So, good good job :)
Solid and very well made - congratulations!
I managed to survive a bit longer by simply trying to go full speed and steer towards the health, but then aiming took a backseat and the world quickly filled up.
Neat little game though, especially as a compo entry.
At first, I died a lot trying to run forward while shooting and finding health pickups, but I'd often get pushed into an onslaught of bullets and never lasted long. Eventually I stumbled into running backwards while holding the spacebar and angling the stream of my shots, and a got a score closer to 40, which made me feel a little proud.
@dragojt Moving backwards is generally the way to go as others have said, that should make things a bit easier (of course, there's some balance tweaks that could be made though). Also, I made the music using the Figure app for iOS (it's quite nice if you're terrible at making music like me).
@cameron2134 Yeah, I spent a lot of time tweaking it at the end, but I still wasn't quite satisfied. I personally do like the fact that a small screw-up can mean instantaneous death, but I can see how that might be frustrating.
@danbolt If you're under the impression that I used Unity WebGL, I actually used Haxe with the Kha multimedia framework.
I made my game in haxe as well, first time LD with haxe, so it was nice to see someone else used it too :D It's pretty great and your game shows it can do 3D too. I had some issues getting the html5 build to stay stable (some weird tweening issue).
Have you used haxe for long?
