Flamebearer by Cirrial

[raw]
made by Cirrial for LD36 (COMPO)
Take the ancient technology of fire and run wild with it through every village you can reach. Your cold-blooded brethren will not perish this winter!

But no matter how fast you run, the flame won't last forever. How many settlements can you light up before it gives out, and you stumble into the cold with it?

A simple runner game. Controls included within the game (plastered over the title screen).

NOTE: IF THE MUSIC CAUSES YOU PAIN, PLEASE HIT EITHER 0 OR O TO TURN IT OFF! A composer I ain't, it turns out!

Nicely done, I enjoyed it. Good animations and chill music.

My suggestion would be to make the jump height more controllable by reducing the jump speed when you let off the key. that would be a middle ground between jumping full and slamming down.

Great controls, good animations and nice feeling in the game. Keep the good job on the art style for future games, it is awesome :)

Good work. Maybe you can add some bonuses or something to keep player interested in the longer run.

I'm a real sucker for infinite runners, and this scratches that itch. Simple, but effective. The feeling of running at max speed through a settlement was quite satisfying.

Couldn't put my finger on why, but I felt like this might've drawn some inspiration from Undertale; there anything to that, or am I just going crazy?

Not sure if the pasce bar wasn't working or there was some sort of glitch, but i could jump high enough over some obstacles

Simple, fun game! I included it in my compilation video series of Ludum Dare 36, if you鈥檇 like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/lcfUdhXZ_XQ

This was a fun game and surprisingly polished for a compo entry. The music was thematic and the sound effects were good. The snow effect in the background also was an excellent visual effect that added both to the theme and sense of speed. Controls were responsive and intuitive.

Tight controls, the music was better than your description lead me to believe. The game mechanics were good, I found myself almost jumping over the villages instead of passing them fire because of the twitch factor of jumping over obstacles, you really have to stay sharp to get a good score. Better than an infinite runner because you can control your speed.

I have never seen a dinosaur with such sick tricks, brah. Very fun and challenging, especially after I got hang of the down button.

And we played your game on stream, so you can check out a more in-depth thought here: https://www.twitch.tv/cantgetourname/v/89524039
