Save The Day ! by juan
My third LudumDare entry
Small endless runner made for the jam: all the content has been created during the event

TOOLS: Unity, blender, Visual Studio, Audacity and Reaper
My main objective this time was to make something simple, but that feel good to play with: I've spend a lot of time on graphics, and not so much on coding actually
Still, no music for this one, maybe next time i'll create some tunes!
As always, feel free to leave a comment, in particular on all the graphic part, as the game in itself is quite simple. (And take a look at the sources if you're interrested! )
Have fun!
Controls ==> W and S to move, and SPACE to boost your speed

It's a nice simple asteroid game. It gave me a music staff impression and I'd really love it if was a G-clef instead of a cliche spaceship, dodging the notes of a Beethoven symphony. Wouldn't have anything to do with energy, though. Nevertheless, it was fun to play while it lasted, but why didn't you go for the compo?
>(And take a look at the sources if you’re interrested! )
I'm not looking at 170 MiB sources, it sounds scary.
"Don’t ever distribute a Linux build in rar! "
Don't know much about linux actually, sorry if i've done something wrong. I'll be carefull to choose the right open format next time ;)
"I’m not looking at 170 MiB sources, it sounds scary."
hehe, I know it's a big one: i just put the all thing in it (understand code, blender files, textures, unity project ect...). It may be unpractical but anyway, I prefer to give access to ALL the "sources" of the graphic part:
The coding part is not that interresting to be honest (not much going on, and unity take care of a lot of things anyway), what's more interesting imo is the mesh files from blender or even textures.
These files are quite heavy, but you can open them and find the high and low resolution models, this way you can understand the whole thing.
"why didn’t you go for the compo?"
Just didn't had the time to do so: simple as that ;)
Asteroids look cool and also the ship (when it's big like on the promo art).
Nice work!
Very pretty graphically, and solid mechanically. Good job!
There is a nice feeling of speed and the intro scene was great. Only things I dislike are the white separator lines. I understand why they are here but still, I think they break immersion.
Great job overall, a simple yet beautiful game
Oh, and the graphics look nice. Those are some smooth asteroids, there.
Don't distribute ANYTHING in rar, ever. RAR has no competitive advantage over open formats like 7z. It should be dead format long time ago :)
Game is quite nice, looks pretty. One minor issue - when I resized game window GUI disappear.
I am going to investigate during the weekend though, if it doesn't work for some reason I will find it out!
That said, the graphics were great and the intro scene was fun. The mechanics were fun too.
Now to the game itself. It had splendid graphics. Really well made. And that was mainly what I enjoyed. It was nice that the game wasn't super impossible to start, but pretty soon I stood no chance. Well executed game. Perhaps make the ramp up of speed a bit slower so I could feel more invested and annoyed when I finally die. Perhaps not killing on first crash but losing a lot of power. Perhaps a highscore system.
You could add some more abilities for the ship, like slow-down, slow-mo, shield, weapons, etc. Everything uses energy of course.
Ok work, what can I say.
Overall, a great entry! Good job!
ThX a lots to all of you guys!
@frogcheese : " I was also a bit bothered by the fact that I couldn’t see the entire ship on screen "
Could you, please, give me a screenshot of your problem? It sounds like a scene scaling issue on your screen, that's quite embarrassing, for sure...
@easy82 : "Very nice entry, simple but fun, I just wish it wouldn’t be instant death when you hit an asteroid, but damaging the ship hull instead. I like the mini story you’ve written, too bad the pilot can never succeed…"
it's not an instant death if you use the "moSpeedButton" (spacebar). I forgot to write it inside the game itself so maybe it wasn't obvious to hit that button, my bad! (The rescue team is a lie)
