This game is well done and did well with the theme. The art style is like a children's story book, very refreshing. The variety of summons was a good touch and the music was a pleasant 80's tune. I did play the game multiple times! All around, good job and very impressive for a weekend game! It would be better if there was a bit more feedback on dashing over the corpses.

Good fun, played multiple times. Fun sound graphics and good use of theme. Controls felt a bit clunky, with the pace of the game you could probably do without the mailman to streamline in down a bit. Lightning would be better in a line facing away from the main charecter, as it almost always felt too risky to use.

Great execution of an adorable concept, with a fresh theme interpretation. Killer tunes and art! I really enjoyed the addition of the story slides. The level of polish is very impressive given the brief time frame. Took me a little while to get used to the summoning controls and WASD movement. It was a little tricky to dash at angles, but I got better after a few plays. Congrats guys! Nice addition to the jam collection!

The opening cutscene is really good and the delayed "meow" at the start of the game made me laugh. Nice gameplay. I feel like there should be a way to recover health somehow. Maybe combine the fact that your cat has "9000" lives with the fact it's a necromancer? You could play around with the idea of reviving your corpse or something. Not sure how but it's something to think about!

@adam-clayden Thank you for the input! You can use the spacebar to dash over dead corpses to re-gain health.

Intro is amazing, i find the gamefeel a bit too heavy but i like the idea.

Meow! It was really difficult for me to dash over the corpses and I missed most of them – sometimes I was "dancing" around one corpse, always missed it and then it disappeared :D Otherwise an interesting concept, loved the art and music, and the intro made me smile. Interesting game!

The sound was hilarious and I loved the art. I couldn't tell if I picked up the health from a dash or not.

Very well done and fits the theme perfectly! Do you need to dash to pickup health? It was hard to tell. Great job!

Stellar opening scene! Great art and perfectly sets the mood. The music was also really well done! I also like the idea of "indirect combat", whereby you are summoning things to protect yourself. I don't think I've played a game quite like this before. I do think the player movement could have been tweaked a bit: the dash was difficult to control (going erratic distances), and the cat felt a little slow when not dashing.

Overall I am very impressed with this game! I enjoyed playing it for quite a while

I am in love with the art in this game, and the sound is amazing too. I thought the gameplay would be easy, getting by with only using the proximity bombs. But the arena size and different speed of the enemies make sure things don't get too relaxed.

A great entry!

Holy shit you guys, this is one of the best entries I've seen on this jam. The opening sequence is a masterpiece! It's a bit hard to dash in the right direction with the arrow keys, I'm guessing on a gamepad it would feel better. It also would be nice to have more visual indication if I collected the corps or not.

Linux build is showing up as a running process and taking memory but I don't see the game

Got the web build running though.

Graphics were cool, reminded me of games I'd play on PC as a kid, and the gameplay was a unique, being able to summon made the game like a tower defense SmashTV (snes). The game was easy to understand but dashing to collect the health you weren't really sure if that corpse gave you health or not, you can only see the health increase (as far as I know) and just kinda guess where the health came from, because of this I found myself dashing over the same corpses a couple times to make sure I got all the health I could.

The art is extremely charming. I really like the hand-drawn feel. Game itself isn't anything extremely new, but I did like that the dash is multi-purposed. Being able to avoid damage at the same time I'm replenishing health is a good mixup on the genre. I think the summons could use a little balance / variety added to them.

Audio is very well done. The music is great and the sound effects fit pretty well -- though they did get a bit repetitive.

A solid entry, overall.

The intro is amazing! Very psychedelic which is my jam haha. I dig the art style, the audio is great, and you utilized the theme well. I had fun playing! My only suggestions are to disable corpse/summoned minion collisions are maybe add a visual indicator for when you successfully dash over a corpse. Great game!

Really enjoyed this. The menu art was great, the story was funny, and the sounds were nice too. I found that I would often dash rather than consume enemies corpses, maybe a different button or just making it so dash relies on the arrows with space rather than character being moving at all. Would have really liked to see more of the art...texture from the intro in the main game.

Got stuck in the opening cutscene for a bit. I dig the art style and animations. Controls were smooth and intuitive. Great job overall!

I liked the story. It seemed to be hard to dash over the corpses to get your energy back, and also I was unsure what determined when I was able to dash. The music was fantastic. Nice entry.

The opening intro and sfx made me laugh out loud. Probably one of the more funny games I have played so far. So definitely a great job making the game fun and funny.

at first I didn't realize the strategy but once I learned how to use the vet and the mail man along with the others I was really zooming along and I was doing good for awhile. I don't think I've seen any games so far have cut-scenes. I was really impressed by the presentation in this game.

The only issue I had at first was just kinda remembering which number key represented which thing but after getting a hang of that it was pretty cool. I couldn't tell if the enemies had different speeds or health mostly b/c I was just trying to get the heck away haha.

This was a super fun game! I liked how different it was compared to any other game I have played and it was super polished. I especially liked how the main character was a cat wizard! Great introduction story, fantastic art and amazing work! Also, the vocoder on Necrocat 9000 was the best ever!!!

Amazing entry, congrats on the game!
Really fun to play, the music and SFX were great and the art was awesome.
The intro movie was fun to watch and added a lot to the game.

I think the controls could have been a little bit tighter as I felt like I was floating around a bit too much and the dash was a bit hard to control to get health.

Still great fun to play!
