Sacrifice for the wall by DarkAnice

[raw]
made by DarkAnice for LD 43 (JAM)

Description:

This game is about a president trying to defend his country against mexicans. He's sacrificing himself to protect his country at all cost. He even invades Mexico just to make sure his country is safe. Help him by walking through the levels and defeating every enemy that walks your path. But beware that you damage yourself by jumping, which is a sacrifice you're willing to take to take down those pesky mexicans trying to take over your country. The good thing about taking them down is that you'll be so satisfied with what you've done, that you restore some of your HP.

Controls:

walking = wasd/arrows/left stick

Jumping = space/'A' Button (xbox)/'cross' button (ps)

Pause = Escape/Start

Sounds like an interesting game, but the itch page is giving me a 404 :(

@sam-hindson It should be fixed now, accidentily added the page as a draft instead of a public page! Thanks for telling me!

Nice graphics and music. It can be cool to add some nice sounds when you restore your jump meter.

very funny concept, I think the sacrifice mechanic makes it less fun as you just have to skip all the enemies and try to get to the end in as few jumps as possible

It's got a cute art style, and I quite like the music :)

Very nice Idea. You Game would be way more playable if your Camera didnt lag behind the player, but instead show whats in front of it, line in super mario world. I often ran into spikes because of this, whitch leads to frustrations.
I like that you could jump on the enemies, so you can extend the jump. Thats a important mechanic, when every jump costs energy.

@mrjackhpil Thanks! Yeah I didn't really have time for sound effects anymore so might add them in later! Thanks for playing! :D

Good idea! Just the third level feels compared to the first two levels really hard for me.

@staxx6 Yeah kinda bumped up the difficulty level too much, I'm sorry for that! I kinda rushed the last level so I should take a bit more time for the level design next time. Thanks for the feedback!

Congratulations on the work, the game was awesome, good songs, I just believe that you lacked a sonorous feedback of when you hit enemies or kill them. Great game !. Sorry for bad english.

Fun game, the graphics are perfect for what the game is: Fast, Thematic and Funny.
- I like the timer as I love challenging myself and others to be competitive, yet it would've been nice to have one or two decimals and to see my score at the end of a level
- The Audio is funny, I love the midi renditions of "popular" songs
- The theme does come forth, but not a lot. I never really looked at my healthbar during my playsession
- I love that there was a boss (more games should have those in my opinion haha), but I one-shotted it three times in a row, so you might wanna look into that :P
- Three distinct levels, I like that. It does give me a feeling of progression!
- I didn't like the camera movement unfortunately, it was too slow so I couldn't see things coming when I jumped. Yet it did force me to take my time instead of rushing, which gives speedrunning it a bit more merrit.
- The final thing is the gravity, it feels really floaty. In a quick and reactive platformer I would love to have quicker controls.
- The level design feels nice, the levels get more difficult as you progress and they are interesting

I like the game a lot. I was just looking to give some feedback, so here you go. Nice game, I'd download it if it was on the Appstore!

Nice little platformer i enjoyed to play. The one thing which could be better is the behaviour of the camera. At some points if the player have to move down, it's impossible to land on a save position without a lot of luck or to die and try it again. But nevertheless well done :)
