Monstrously Hunky is a “monster dating sim” made for Ludum Dare 41 (Theme: Combine 2 incompatible genres).

The game was made in Unity over a couple of days and uses lots of data-driven and semi-procedural functionality to create unique names, descriptions, information and traits for your potential dates.

The game is different every time you play. Play with sound - it really sets the mood ;)

5 hunky monsters are waiting for you on the other side of the START button. Peruse these fine specimens and decide which one you'd like to take home tonight.

Wine and dine the one that takes your fancy - please them with your answers and maybe they won't rip your heart out through your eye socket.

I had a lot of fun with this, trying out all the different monsters and reading through the silly date lines. Turns out I'm a 100% match with Shikbak, The Ender of Underwear. Figures... Really great use of the theme and a solid LD entry. I'd have loved to go out on some proper dates with your monsters, like to restaurants, ice-curling, etc. But how much can anyone put together in 72 hours, eh? Awesome work!

lol not bad at all. it's was very funny :) I think it might be nice to have more choices and have the amount of like dislike change based upon the answers. music was pretty good, graphics where great aside from the text. in the webversion it was very very hard to read. also what is the end goal?

A very creative combination of genres. The music was a good fit. Some of the text was very small. This seemed to vary between monsters. I only tried three dates, but the questions were quite repetitive. I guess this was by design as the monsters prefered different answers. The graphics was very nice! Good job!

Thanks for all the kind comments! A couple of points:

1. The text sometimes displaying as really small: this maybe a bug with the TextMeshPro plugin, not 100% sure yet. Suggested resolution for this issue is to move closer to the screen :D
2. There's only a limited number of questions currently - it was mad rush at the end to get it done and unfortunately not as many got included as I'd hoped to have.

Really funny game. The art and the romantic music are great. The text on some of the monsters descriptions was kind of small and hard to read. I also wish their was more variety in the questions. I got a lot of repeats. Great job with the character traits generating.

Look forward to spending a little more time exploring those hunky monsters, I really loved the art, the music did set the mood, would have liked a slightly more thematic setting instead of "plain tile box". Also slightly swankier UI and a volume slider would have been cool.

Good graphics. Silly, but very funny in spots. I like the background music too, and the different characters. Lots of variety in the questions. Nice work!

Nice idea! I liked the humour in this one.

One minor complain I would have is that the questions and the answers are often the same. It would have been cool to have more questions and variable answers to them :)

Otherwise, really cool game. Congrats!

Cheers @Linky439 - agree 100% on wanting to do more on the questions front, simply ran out of time at the end I'm afraid!

I love all the descriptions. I wish there was more to it, but I understand that you ran out of time. Adding some sort of epilogue afterwards would also be nice.
