Growing Polytheism by legulysse

(WARNING : It seems that on the first launch the game can be laggy and crash, just close it and restart, and it will be fine !)
The game is about managing a little village trying to survive, by providing enough resources for both the citizens and the gods !
- Available buildings are on the left, you can click on them then place them on the map.
- Use arrows to move the camera.
- You can resize the window to your preferred size.
- Gods will appear on a regular basis, and directly consume some resources (you can see their details by hovering the mouse over their names).
I wanted to create a Banished-like game, with an additionnal layer of Gods asking for offerings to keep them happy. I didn't have the time to implement godly disasters though, so they are just potatoes eater ;_;
The theme would have been included in both the growing number of villagers, and the growing number of gods, making the game harder and harder.
UPDATE 1.1 (Post-Jam) : zoom support, costs feedbacks, use space to center camera !

- allow to zoom in/out to see the whole village in all its glory
- arrows and WASD work even when the window does not have the focus
- maybe change the colour of resource numbers (green when it’s growing, red when it’s decreasing)
- where is the button to send rockets to hyperdimensional outer space?
Also please allow to destroy a land item. My village is disfigured forever because of a tiny mistake:

Is it the .zip file that got quarantined, or the .exe itself ?
The game is built on my own little game engine so there shouldn't be anything fishy inside, if you manage to get more information about why it blocked it I would be glad to hear about it !
However, please...please add the mechanic to destroy stuff(because of a few mistakes, my whole village was disfigured...). Also a bit of information about how much things cost?
It's a great game all in all! :)
I liked the music and laid-back pacing. Fairly fun!
Some cc:
* I didn't feel like I ran into any kind of tension or challenge in this game. Even with a long list of Gods, I had no trouble managing resources. I suppose that's what your note about disasters was about.
* I also had trouble finding the theme of the game in here. I think the intention is that the more gods you're appealing to, the more difficult it is to keep them all happy? This entry would have worked just as well with only small houses and farms, fewer resources, or whatever else you could have cut from development time to get the main tension of the game in. That would be my biggest suggestion.
Thanks
To improve it, I wish that the there were some more restrictions when creating new buildings and that you had to build paths between buildings in order to access them. But, with the time given for a Jam, I think this is awesome!
Keep up the great work! ;)
(I checked both my project files and a downloaded copy of my submission)
Once I get some free time I intend to build a 1.1 patch with better feedbacks on resources, and a delete option.
As for the overall challenge, and about the theme, I intend to work on a 1.2 patch with more tweaks on the economy and the addition of some godly disasters like thunder strikes on the citizens if the Faith resource is too low, in order to finish the gameplay loop I originally intended for this entry o/
Come check out my game if you like!

Bitdefender is getting even more paranoïd now, as it doesn't even let me download your game... I have just declared it as a false positive on their site...
It's not the first time I use it, and this hosting site as well, maybe I'm just being unlucky with bitdefender here.
I hope you will manage to test the game some day :D I've put yours in my todo-list o/
*Potatoes, what are those?*
>Golden and delicious, you grow them in a field and later harvest for immediate consumption. Increased vitality assured!
*Sounds like a lot of work. Me and my 19 mates will do just fine without food. Believe me.*
>No, you ought to be believing in me!
*Nah, we're good.*
There is not much to this currently: build everything in excess and that is that. The gods, while numerous, don't do enough; -3000 (and dropping) faith did not cause them any alarm. It is not Polytheism that is growing here, quite the opposite. These gold digging, house building, little atheists are multiplying and they don't even die of old age! *Maybe potatoes are the answer?!*
In all seriousness, there are a lot of directions you could take this. Just make sure there are some decisions to me made, or at least funny shenanigans with the deities and their conflicting interests. You already have ideas along these lines though, so I need not add more!
