Really dig the aesthetic. It became a little easier once I figured out you can continuously jump in air, which I'm assuming is a bug, based on the fact that it's not in the gif at the top of the page. But even then it remained soul crushing and hopeless! Which is a good thing!! because that's like, the idea","likes":1,"format":"md"},{"author_name":"Tuxic","author_uid":"1043589","time":"2017-07-31T13:48:10Z","epoch":1501508890,"modified":1501508890,"text":"@hels thanks for the review, I guess my mission is accomplished :) the jump is indeed a bug, but I left it here as a cheat for people who didn't want to play with the platform timings! I had a friend pitch an idea like this one to me before, but I like your interpretation better. I felt like the phrases were things the character might have actually experienced. I know you left the jump static on purpose, but I'd consider changing it to a standard jump (longer you hold it, higher you go).\n\nCool concept though, solid execution!","likes":0,"format":"md"},{"author_name":"jahndis","author_uid":"1001476","time":"2017-08-05T04:45:13Z","epoch":1501908313,"modified":1501908313,"text":"Thought the mechanics delivered the message well. The only thing I might have done differently is have less upbeat music\/sfx. Just to emphasize depression a little more. Found the jumping bug pretty late, but even with that, I didn't manage to get through the day :( I like the time slider below the platforms, and the messages are well written! Music and sound fits well. The jumping mechanic alone didn't feel very innovative, and the random generation of the platforms felt unfair sometimes. I'd love to see more gameplay elements in this game! Thanks for making it! :*\n\nI enjoyed your descriptions on this page! :)","likes":0,"format":"md"}],"format":"md","images":["ld39\/43590-09c0d980c3c97d623f9077c31f2e6bd3.png"],"links":[],"metadata":{"g_key":"52937","g_author":"1043589","g_event":"LD39","g_eventkey":"74","g_subevent":"COMPO","g_urlkey":"243200","g_title":"burnout. : a runner game about depression and the others","g_status":"USEAR3","g_place":"99999","g_commentcount":"11","g_site2_node_id":"43590","g_hide":"Y","g_has_icon":"Y","g_rqueue":"0","g_random":"0"},"nds":{"n_key":"43590","n_urlkey":"243200","n_parent":"32802","n_path":"\/events\/ludum-dare\/39\/burnout-a-runner-game-about-depression-and-the-others","n_slug":"burnout-a-runner-game-about-de","n_type":"item","n_subtype":"game","n_subsubtype":"compo","n_author":"43589","n_created":"1501429920","n_modified":"1501435157","n_version":"106803","n_status":"COMMIT"},"node":{"id":43590,"parent":32802,"superparent":9,"author":43589,"type":"item","subtype":"game","subsubtype":"compo","published":"2017-07-30T17:19:17Z","created":"2017-07-30T15:52:00Z","modified":"2017-07-30T17:19:17Z","version":106803,"slug":"burnout-a-runner-game-about-depression-and-the-others","name":"burnout. : a runner game about depression and the others","body":"![ezgif-3-a11e9e16ff.gif](\/\/\/raw\/54a\/a\/z\/5666.gif)\n\nburnout. is a game about burnout, depression, and the others.
