You’re a Von Neumann probe named R.U.D.I. You are competing with other probes for control of small worlds in a system. Your nation has directed you to explore, eliminate and duplicate yourself. If you run out of probes, the mission is failed and proof that the human race existed goes along with it.

The goal is to acquire enough resources to duplicate yourself as many times as you can.
All weapons and parts require resources.

Directional buttons/arrows to move Z - Switch Tool Weapons X - Use tool (I modified the HTML to include a gamepad library so gamepads should work)

Cute looking and very playable game! Am I right there's only one level? Would be nice to have level progression, and make the player travel through the level(s) get more resources.

Thanks for playing and the comments @loveapplegames! By midway through the game I cut the galactic map and the procedurally generated worlds. I intended to have a map of a sector of space that you have to take over to win but over-scoping in 48 hours is very easy to do right? So I stuck with this, I made two "planets" but yes, that's something I would do to finish the game beyond the Jam!

Love the ataric feeling, the ship is easy to control and the sound effects are punchy! Good work!

A very well made combo game. The idea for the game is really easy to understand and what is even more important. the game is pretty fun to play. Both the sound effects and the graphics fits the game very well. The tool switching system is okay, but it took me some time to really understand how it was suppose to work. But overall a great LD game. Well done.

Love PICO-8 games
Controls are nice, too.
AI is a bit dumb - you can stay in one place and they can't hit you

I like this a lot, reminds me of Solar Jetman.

Good solid gameplay, enemy hitboxes seem a bit small though, or maybe just more feedback after hitting them is needed?

very nice game,
with cute art. and nice to see a game of Pico8
nice concept, clean and clear.
not really sure how the enemies AI was acting, but it was good enough.
it was not too smart, nor too stupid. a cool balance.
good job at it.

A nice little game. Took me a while to figure out the controls, and I wasn't too happy with the x and z combo... too close for me, meaning I ended up switching tools too often when I wanted to shoot. But... that's on me.

Nice graphics and sound. Good job for a 48 hr game.

Love the graphics and the feel of the game. Wish there was a grander goal to it. Also found it was possible to find a location in which harvesting was possible and the enemies couldn't get in to position to hit you.

Nice little Defender-ish feeling game. I really liked it. Every time I play a game built with Pico8, it makes me feel good inside.

Enjoyable game. Would have been nice to have a score of some sort, to make creating more probes more "meaningful". It would have been helpful if Z/X rotated tool selection left/right, rather than both going right.

Overall, very well done, and more polished than most.

I love the idea. The only thing I think is lacking is the pace. You should have to move around to get resources, get into danger, maybe fight ground enemies by dropping bombs. Enemies could chase you away. Right now it is lacking the arcade fun it could have. Otherwise fun and the aesthetic is great, it just needs some work on the pacing.
