I wasn't expecting the twist! I cant say the game was particularly mechanically interesting, but it was a pretty unique take on the theme.

Wow... Okay, sure, alright. Humorous but... This feels more like a silly joke than a game. Despite that, graphics are really nice, and the game is pretty creative in its approach to the theme. You could argue that there is a story but im 50-50 on that statement. Its fun in a sense that you want to see whats going to happen next, so that's good. Unique entry.

Wow, I thought the art style was incredible. I really wanted this to be a real game :) Can you please expand this to a full game post LD? It would be amazing :)

Loved how the game interacted with me when I wanted to keep playing. I still feel like I missed something and something might happen if I keep mashing my space button and walking around for a while more...

**This boss fight was great, but I could not beat him. I wonder what comes next. ** ;)

Well done. You have made me that I waited at the end felt 5 minutes.
What wasn't so bad, beacause I really enjoied the soundscape.

**Spoiler. Don't read this. Play the game at first:**

But I wondered why I've waited. Maybe it was because the introduction into the game was well placed or the music or the simplistic art style.
I thought at the beginning that this texts about a extraordinary adventure could not be this what they seems to be.
And so I was excited what comes next. And I realize now that you have plant a kind of curiosity into my mind so that I wanted more.

Maybe curiosity is one of the greatest drives to play games.
So, you have something beautiful done. Keep this ability to make people wonder.
But sometime it would be also good to reward the player for the curiosity, because it could be happen that you could be disappoint the player. It's a hard balancing between rewarding and only let him wondering about the situation.
For me I can say I was really curious until I reached the 5 minutes mark.

Anyway. I loved the complementary combination between your art style and the music. Keep doing such games and have a nice day. :D

hello @norrimo, thanks for that feedback !

The purpose of our proposal was precisely to increase the excitement as much as possible to make it fall back later, we tried to go through both extremes.
We tried to recreate a little hype feeling that comes up with the game promises, the trailers, etc. etc. which is often accompanied by disappointments (aka No Man's Sky or Watch Dogs)

BTW, we are really happy to see you get our point :)

I haven't laughed so much before about being trolled. The overall feel would be fantastic for a full game.
The only thing I could pick issues with is the physics when you jump; it looks like you used a RigidBody2d as the hero gets stuck in the wall when jumping if you collide and press in the wall's direction.

Cool game and I loooove it! Really IMMERSIVE experience! I feel the contract between the legendary saga style music and the "YOU CAN DO NOTHING" because of running out of space. i mean... i was running out of space, but not in the way i thought. this was probably one of the most unexpected things that could happen, and i really liked that dialogue at the end. it probably could be a bit more. that moment at the end where you have to exit, but if you don't exit the text just goes on really reminded me of some parts in portal 2, where a character wants you to do something, but if do nothing, they will just continue to talk. the game very small an short, but besides the pink ground there are no problems.
🎤 Gaming Night
17. Aug 2018 · 15:18 UTC

Hey ! I really liked your game. At first I was a bit confused with the inventory system, but I finally understood how to work around with it, and I really liked the dragon fight, it's really good. This boss was real hard ! But the fact you coded its finite state machine in so less time is really impressive, good job for that !

Nah just kidding, this game is very unique and you did great ;) literal take on theme, good sound and art in general. Excellent work. :)
I enjoyed the ridiculously overexaggerated intro (and the hilarious posts you've been doing to promote the game), which heightened the expectations but already kind of makes the player suspect that none of what they are made to believe is actually going to be in the game.

@gaming-night I actually liked how far you went with it! I think it makes people think "this sounds too good to be true" and makes them curious about the game. It also makes people less angry when they get to the twist, because they already kind of expected something like it. And the twist is still great because noone expects it to be about the spacebar. Very charming artstyle - if it had a little more frosting (like making that grass move in the wind and when player is moving through) it would be totally stunning, but still, very awesome. Music was very well chosen to this kind of epic adventure. I think that even in this kind of game, the movement controls should have been tighter, it nearly drove me away in the beginning, but I'm glad it eventually did not! Overall, this game is a piece of a art! Still want to play more!
NNNIKKI
17. Aug 2018 · 18:56 UTC
@gaming-night No, in fact, the problem was caused by the fact that when you shoot the Bell on top of St. Patrick's Church in Deerville with a LV 27.43 Accuracy Sniper Rifle it generates a slightly lower sound than when you shoot any other church's bell with it. This led to many incontinuities with Graham Heiler's story and side-quest, f.e., when he said that his mother "loved and always obeyed Christ" and when his father said that "his favorite saint was St. Patrick". This plunged me into such a huge depression that I decided to not bring back his 4th Huge Chandelabra of Oatmeal and didn't get the 59 gold coins and 14 skill points for that quest. This made me far too weak to tackle Rabarbara, the Godess of Fruit and Juice, and therefore I was unable to progress the main quest and story so I had to make a new game.

/!\ Spoiler Allert /!\
It's a pity that you did not finish this quest because once complete Graham takes you to the top of the church of St. Patrick and tells you a little anecdote of his childhood where playing with his friend mylène (the one who became archmage) they cracked the bell. Which makes it sound less!

I'm afraid this can't really be called a game since there's no win condition... but what content was there I enjoyed.

"Oh this game looks cool ! Let's try it !"
*after playing*
"Ah.. Well.."
Like the graphics, the mood, the idea of the text to tell the story in same time we walk.. Too bad that there is no audio, to complete the panel.
I won't say the mechanics are bad because it works just before running out of space x)
Anyway, funny game with funny end ! (and funny returns when I try up arrow x) ) Good job !
I have just one question : Do you really needed the 72h to make it ? xD

It's a damn good piece of the narrative-driven game. I am still laughing at the epic start and the greatest plot twist in the end
Well done!

thanks all for your comments and feedback ;)

@lu7cie actually we couldn't participate in this edition because we were on vacation. But the theme really appealed to us so we took 10h to make a modest little proposal :)

@dominic-graziano However, it is necessary for the player to have an interaction (use the space bar), and we think that this is enough to define our proposal as a game :)

Haha, that was quite amusing. I thought "great tutorial" and then... out of space :) Nice sticking to the theme. I also like how you commented about me trying everything to desperately getting up to the ledge saying that the up key doesn't work. Nice mood to the game, I liked the hand drawn art and the music. The hero felt a bit sticky to the wall, maybe reduce friction? Nice work, and thanks for the laugh :) High humor rating from me!
